Expansion Dance Project Presents "THE WIZ."

Roles Available (all roles require dance ability):
Aunt Em * Dorothy (African-American girl, 12-18 )* Addaperle, Good Witch of the North * Yellow Brick Road (3 vocalists)* Scarecrow (actor/singer with experience in locking) * Tinman (actor/singer with experience in popping, tap, hip-hop) * Lion (actor/singer with experience in broadway jazz )* The Wiz * Evillene, Wicked Witch of the West * Glinda, Good Witch of the South

Those auditioning should prepare an R&B vocal selection in your key (bring sheet music or instrumental music on CD) and a one-minute monologue (bring script for our review). They should also be prepared to sing selections from "The Wiz" and read from "The Wiz" script. Accompanist will be provided; be prepared to dance (bring jazz shoes, sneakers and tap shoes, if you tap dance). Please bring headshot and resume (if you have them).

Please familiarize yourself with the musical version of The Wiz prior to the audition. The original cast recording can be found on iTunes.

Be prepared to dance in various styles (hip-hop, tap, broadway jazz, modern. Bring appropriate shoes). It is not required to be proficient at all styles of dance.

Also, because some parts will require singing, dancers should be prepared to demonstrate their vocal range.

Pre-registration for all calls is STRONGLY suggested as audition spots are limited. To pre-register, please e-mail wizaudition@expansiondance.com. The e-mail subject line should include your classification (adult dancer or youth dancer.) Please also include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and how you heard about the audition in the body of the e-mail.

If registering for more than one classification, please send a separate e-mail.

Casting Considerations:
This is a multi-ethnic version of "The Wiz," and it will be extremely dance-intensive. All actors will be required to dance and all dancers will be required to act. Cast includes all age ranges, although we will cast adults for most parts. This is a community production.

Rehearsal Schedule (July 23-September 2) All those auditioning should be prepared for a six-week INTENSIVE rehearsal period. Principal parts will require some daytime and weekend availability.

Most dance/music rehearsals will be on weekends or daytime evenings.

Bring your schedules and note any conflicts at the audition.
