Do you give a little end of the year "gift" to the children you teach / assist? I know a fellow assitant at my studio does and it's always something really cute. For example last year she gave them princess packages because their end of the year song was "I Love Being A Princess". What do you do (if anything)

For my very first class that I taught I gave them little ballerina smurfs. Don't know what a smurf is? I'm showing my age...

As the studio owner I give each child a rose at the year end performance.

When I was an assitant, I always gave a little gift. It was usually a non-messy candy done in fancy tulling with a "good luck" note. I remember assistances giving us single carnations when I was younger.

I think it's a nice geasture, but not necessary. If you want to do it, go for it (although you may want to ok it by the teacher/SO). I recommend being careful if you are going to give something messy when the children are in their costumes.

The first year I was an assistant teacher the children had a flower-themed dance where they all had individual colored tutus and leotards. So I got them each a ballerina bear with the same color outfit as they each had.

Since then the classes have been bigger and I haven't known the girls as well, so I haven't done it since, sadly. :)

My teacher goes to the dollar store and gets these ballerina figurines. Both mines that I have broke though. :?

This year no one got perfect attendance, so for the reg attendance award she had little frames that had a ballerina in the corner. And then she took this shiny silver mettalic paper and with the computer printed on it: Ashley____ (

Rhiestonediva, here is the info you requested regarding the "I Love Being a Princess" song. I hope this is the version you are looking for.

I used to get my little ones something small when I first started out teaching/assisting. One year I got them all a frame from the dollar store in hot pink and put their class picture in it for them to keep in their room. Another year I gave them each a little bag that I decorated with pictures of ballerinas and ballet shoes and such and inside was different kinds of dance related things (ballet shoe buttons, stickers, etc.) and some candy. Then I started to take on more classes and it got too expensive so I had to stop.

Whenever we do a new shirt design, I always buy them one in a different color, to make them feel special. At the end of the year I never thought of doing something for them, but if I did I think I would probably get them something they could wear for class. A girl can never have too many clothes!

I have almost 20 classes, so I usually just get a big bag of candy and make thank you cars on the computer and pass it out the last day of class before recital, this way they don't get dirty at the recital. For my competitive students, I always buy them individual flowers with a persoanl thank you card. I have to start on those atleast 2 weeks before because there are so many of them as well...lol. Wish I could afford to give them all a "princess" type package but too many kiddies and on my salary, aint happenin" lol. Thats a great idea to go to the dollar store thoug, might try them this year, thanks:-)
