The most common mistake made in headstands is trying to put the hands and the head all in one line, a bigger base is needed fo the head stand to balance. The hands and head need to make a triangle with the head at the front and the hands at the back.
Also try not to put most of your weight on your head and neck, there should be very little weight on your head, it is the arms that do most of the work. Also try to make sure your body is in a straight line from your head to your hips. Make sure your hips aren't on an angle forward or backwards, they should be straight above your head. |

On my drill team we drilled headstands so much, i used to get frusrated with them but i got mine down in a week. Like she said make a triangle base, when you bring your legs up to the air, dont just push them up there keep your balance and go up slow... if you can ask your coach if you can go up againist the wall, go againist the wall get up in your headstand the right way and hold it as long as possible. Another tip is squeeze your legs in your abs in tight and point your toes, that should help also. Hope I helped. |
