Any tips. I know a girl who can do multiple aerial cartwheels very well, but is having trouble with her aerial walkover. She lands low (which means set higher-I realize) and doesn't seem to get around as fast as necessary. Any tips? 5 Replies to Aerial front walkover | re: Aerial front walkover (karma: 1)

Doing a front aerial is quite different to doing a front walkover with no hands. You need to get a good strong push off your front leg because you don't have your hands to helf you get around. Work lots of dive front walkovers but go for height rather then distance on the skill.
A lot of back felxibility helps with this skill too. Many people have good front walkovers because they have good shoulder flexibility but their backs aren't flexible enough for this skill. So lots of back streching helps too. | re: Aerial front walkover (karma: 1)

Hi there. Make sure that you do get a good push off of your front leg, but make sure you DO NOT pull your head through. You need to leave your head back. Also, you want to approach the trick like a front tuck and then open up the walk out at the proper time. Do not open up the walk out too early or too late that will cause under rotation or over rotation. When teaching my girls I have found the best way that they learn is to use a folded up mat. The mat helps a person open their walkout at the proper time and it also lifts them so that they do not have so much stress on their backs and they can keep their chests up, similar to that of an aerial cartwheel. Hope that helps. | |

I'm not sure how you would approach an aerial walkover like a front tuck? A front tuck takes off of two feet and an aerial walkover takes off with one.
I say keep in mind what you would do in a front walkover.
You need to keep your head back(don't pull it forward to your chest)
Big push off your leading leg, big kick with your back leg(like an aerial cartwheel)
Big arch
and most important remember to use your arms. Alot of times when people fall or can't make it all the way around it is because they aren't using their arms.
Your arms should make a complete circle and should never stop moving. | re: Aerial front walkover en>fr fr>en By steppinsteph Comments: 1265, member since Wed Oct 26, 2005On Tue Jul 03, 2007 08:08 PM
I guess what I meant by approaching like a tuck is the upper body, with the torso upright (not leaning forward prematurely) and the arms up/back.
Thanks for all of the tips. I'm passing them along. | ReplySendWatch
