The first girl in the oversplit straddle jump trained at a gymnastic's facility I used to work at. We spent a lot of time working jumps on the trampoline and a tumble track. I miss having use of apparatus like that now.
No...our older girls went to JUMP nationals in New York. Most of the time our younger groups do not travel for nationals. It is such a huge expense and now nationals is kind of a joke because you can qualify there etc. (That is another subject for another time.) Our numbers for our senior company are just not the kind of numbers that do well at Showstopper's nationals. Not that I don't feel there are plenty of good studios that win, but our quirky contemporary numbers seem to fall by the wayside with the billion numbers that have a million turns and ala second turns by 20 people on stage. BUT...those other kind of routines wouldn't score really high at JUMP so that is fine and dandy. |

those pictures are beautiful! it always amazes me (even after dancing/teaching for over 20 years) how graceful dancers are. It looks like your students love to dance and enjoy working really hard, which reflects well on you as a teacher. Keep up the good work. |

God, I wish I had teaching abilities as good as yours! I can teach my students how to do the splits...and Penchees, and...well... umm... not much, but you've got amazing students! |

^It was called "The World" and choreographed by Brian Freidman. Three girls start on the couch like they are watching the news on TV and all the tragedy that surrounds us in the world we are living in.
Here is a link to the dance on youtube.

They look great!
Maybe I am out of the norm loop, but is it normal not to wear tights these days?
I would have died as a teen not wearing tights. LOL |

Yeah...I can't think of a competition number our senior company did with tights last year aside from recital dances. |
