Edited by FeisForFood (163151) on 2007-08-15 09:28:08 Final touches. I apologize for the odd spacing, I can't do much to fix it. This section is notorious for that, anyway.
Edited by FeisForFood (163151) on 2007-08-15 09:30:25 More final touches and removing some unnecessary codes.
Edited by FeisForFood (163151) on 2007-08-15 09:36:04 LAST thing, I promise.

We all often see threads for dresses for sale without pictures, or with just an email address at which it request pictures. Other members will post and try to explain how to post pictures in your thread, even if you're a new member. While potential buyers might request pictures by email, everyone is likely to get much more interest if there are pictures within the thread to catch a reader's eye. Here are detailed instructions explaining how to post a picture. I hope they aren't TOO broken down, because I tried to explain it as though I was trying to teach my mother (and I would really need to break it down for that). Please remember that all images you post should be of an appropriate nature and as relevant to your post as possible.

How to Post a Picture Using an External Server
If your membership has existed for a week and you have made a significant amount of posts, your are no longer considered a "new member" and are permitted to upload pictures. Until then, you can use an outside server to upload and post pictures. All members can do this (that's how you see posts with more than one picture!). Most will recommend that you use tinypic.com to upload images, because it's very easy to use.

STEP ONE
Go to tinypic.com. You'll see the following on the right of the screen.
Image hotlink - 'http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07333/DDN_step_1.png'

STEP TWO
Click "Browse" and find the image you wish to upload. For this example, I'm using a picture of my brother's figure team at the Oireachtas. Select your image and click "Open."
Image hotlink - 'http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07333/DDN_step_2.png'

STEP THREE
You'll see your file name in the field I lit up in my picture for this step. Also lit up, make sure "Image" is selected in the file type. Then, lit up as well, click on the "Upload Now" button.
Image hotlink - 'http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07333/DDN_step_3.png'

STEP FOUR
Once your image has been uploaded, the following codes will appear. I've highlighted your key code in yellow. There's a blue "Copy" button to the right of that code. Click on it.
Image hotlink - 'http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07333/DDN_step_4.png'

STEP FIVE
Back to Dance.net! In your post, right click and choose "Paste" exactly where you want your image to appear. You won't be able to see it until you are finished your post and click "Submit." This is your result.
Image hotlink - 'http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07333/Image1.png'

AND YOU'RE DONE!
My personal recommendation is that you use xs.to because the server is more reliable. To use that, click the link above, upload your image (be sure to check the box that you agree to the Terms of Service) click "Upload." Paste the code from the very bottom field ("Direct Link to Image") between this code: . You should read the instructions above first.

^ I'm sorry about the links, they stopped working awhile ago and the thread is too old for me to edit to fix them.

If you're using TinyPic.com, you copy the fourth row, the one that's marked "Direct Link for Layouts" or sometimes just "Direct Link."

I made a new picture and the correct link is highlighted in pink. I hope that helps! Sorry about the old ones not working.

And the only way to make your images larger is to resize them on your own computer. Some servers (uploading websites like TinyPic) will have a way you can resize your images, but they will nearly always turn out pixelated and misshapen. You have to change the size of the actual picture using an editor on your computer. But if it was very small to begin with, there's no way to make it larger without it looking fuzzy and pixelated.

You could just upload them to www.imageshelf.net. That's what I normally use. Never had any trouble with it. :)

^ You just do the whole thing as many times as you need to, and paste each link in the same post.

Sorry if the directions are confusing...there used to be screenshots to illustrate what you have to do, but they've since stopped working.

Thanks for all the above detailed info. I'm new to this and really appreciate patient instructors and advice. The site has been a temendous help to me as a newer dance mom. I'll be selling soon and look forward to posting.
