We use pumpers. They can make any design custom very fast. We just trim it ourselves. We save a lot of $$ than going to show off. |

Do you have a link to pumpers? I've never heard of them.
Thanks |

We order from Kenerly Kreations. Mrs Joy is jus wonderful and so creative. she made my daughters strut costume and we get so many comments from judges. We are making plans to order two more. You should all give her a try. |

It all depends on what kind of costume I want. Usually for solo, I have someone make it for me. For strut, if I know exactly what I want, I'll have someone make it. But if I find something I like online, I have no problem with that. For freestyle, we usually order online. I don't like to order from Show Off because I like to be more original. |

My daughter desperately needs a new solo costume but I can't bring myself to pay the prices on showoff or kenerly for a 7 year old who is growing by the minute. She unfortunately is tall and skinny. She fits in a size 4 measurements for everything but the girth. It is nearly impossible to get her anything off the rack so we have to have them custom made for her. I did get a really great strut costume on ebay last may for her though. It will hopefully still fit her this season. I will be contacting a skating dress maker locally soon I am sure. |

Try FairyGodmother Designs, Donna Norville, Jacksonville, FL Fairygodmother@clearwire.net
She has done my kids individuals & teams for several years. Her prices are very reasonable & designs cannot be beat. You can describe whatever you want and she will sketch it out & let you see it. She does all kinds of styles, beads, studs. They are truly custom. What I like best, is we dont have to live there. I call her & discuss the design I would like, I measure the girls & send them to her. She does the costumes & ships 'em out to us. It's great. Most important...They always fit! |

I understand purchasing costumes from Showoffs and Kenerly Kreations when girls are twirling competitively. They are exquisite and definitely perfect for the serious twirler. I do have a couple of twirling classes where the girls are just not interested in competing.....yet. They are having fun learning to twirl and they love performing in the spring recital. They do buy their costumes from the dance/gymnastics catalogues because those companies offer choices that are not quite so expensive, easy to alter, and provide lots of variety. Actually, I find that the costumes are constructed fairly well, the fabric is fine, and for this situation the costumes fit the bill perfectly! Justification for the one vote! |

My daughter is young, so we have been very lucky to get several costumes at local contests.
I have also purchased 2 off of E-bay and they worked out just fine. |

I make and design my daughters, they always turn out quite cute and she is very unique. Just cant spend the money on Showoffs when I have a bit of sewing knowledge and I like to tinker with some ideas
Good luck to all this season |

I have purchased a couple from ice skaters during their competitions. I have a friend that notifies me when a competition is in toen and I drive to the rink, take my daughter and we try on bunches of dresses. It works out great! |

I get them for my studio through a catalog. I've used Dansco, Costume Gallery, Leo's, and Weissman's. They have all been for dance twirl. A couple have used them for solos.
My high school twirling groups order from Algy. |

I echo the thoughts of the person who could not bear to pay Show Off/Kennerly prices for very young twirlers who MAYBE get a season out of them. My daughter is 9 and growing very very quickly. Maybe by middle school when it slows down some I will spend that much but I can't justify it now.
Personally I am an e-bay junkie. I have a pain threshold of about $50-75 for the base and I usually get the stones to embellish myself. I was very fortunate to get a couple of solo costumes from a woman who had made them for her daughter and she outgrew quickly and I also snagged a Teena's Kool Kreations (google her) for about $65. I have purchased from Sk8Designs (ebay seller) and find her costumes to be extremely well made and cost effective but they do run on the small side.
For dance twirl I have done several things. I have used skating dresses, dance costumes and this year a pair of metallic dance shorts and a dressy top that I stoned the heck out of. Other girls on my daughter's squad have used Sharene's for dance twirl and strut.
I have also had very good luck selling my costumes on ebay and recouping most of my money to turn around and spend more! |
