Poms Tips for Pom tryouts??? en>fr fr>en By luvtadance Comments: 636, member since Tue Jun 11, 2002On Thu Sep 06, 2007 04:14 PM
hey!!! i'm a freshman in college and i'm thinking of trying out for the Pom team. I used to dance ballet and a bit of jazz, hip hop, modern and chinese dance but i stopped about 2 years ago. Pom looks like alot of fun and I'd love to get back into dancing but I'm afraid I'm not good enough for the team. Does anyone have any advice or tips on what I should expect at the tryouts and also how I can prepare myself for it?? I can still do splits but since I havent danced for 2 years, i think my technique isnt very good anymore. 2 Replies to Tips for Pom tryouts??? |

I would say to work on your flexibility, and arm strength. My pom team does a little hip hop, I don't know if yours will. If they do then here's a tip: Dance really loose but keep your arms *solid*! |

The number one thing to remember during tryouts (like, if you have to learn a routine, then perform it) is to smile and shake your poms if you forget (in beat with the music, of course). Be really stiff with your movements (for pompon) and a HUGE SMILE. Be careful not to count the music with any part of you body (like nodding your head to count; a lot of girls on my team did that). Good luck! I have pom tryouts tomarrow too |
