Ok, bayadere93, that 2nd picture is terrifying! Eek! Olenka's photos too...I'm just trying to ignore them; it hurts just to look! I love Polina Semionova's grand jetes. She looks so happy to be up there flying! And Veronika Part's feet, sigh. |

I completely disagree with you there. How much I would love love love to get my boxsplits right, all the training in the world isnt gonna make me get there. Why? My right hip is bad and it needed surgery when i was a kid, therefor it is now waaaay tighter than the other so its impossible for me to achieve boxsplits. So i do find it hard yes and anyone that can do boxsplits I admire and am jealous off, because i know I will never be able to do them.
Not everyone gets there with time and practice, some people like me dont get there at all
This is how far I get, stretching 7 days a week 2 hours per day, I cant stretch longer than that because my hip starts to hurt then, not too mention the fact that I cant lay down with my stomache on the ground in this position.
So hard...hell yes |

SOme of those splits are not good for your joint like that one where her legs are in a 90 degree angle. OF rlittle kids its easier for them because thir bones are still kinda like jelly, I found out hat your knee caps don't develope fully until your about six. Anyways, sorry I don't have any pictures I just had to comment on the amazing flexibilty of these people! |

Luth and danceprincess100: Actually I think you're both right! From what I understand everybody has the potential to be able to do normal splits (forwards splits I mean). That's just a question of stretching. Obviously some people will need to stretch more than others, but everyone has the potenial to be able to do them.
But on the other hand, not everyone has the potential to do box splits. This is rather dependant on ligament length and the structure of your hip sockets. For some people, the potential is there and they just have to stretch enough to get there. Sadly for people like me and Luth, the potential to do box splits is not there, and alas, no matter how much we stretch, it is doubtful we will ever reach box splits.
Anyway, that's how I understand it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

Ok. There's a line between beautiful and sick. Once you get past a point it's sick. |
