Heyaah,,

I am a class helper at a few classes that teach 3-6 year olds and for there last IDTA exam they had to do Fox Trot!

What are your thoughts on this?

seems a bit hard for the little ones. My daughter is just 7 she is doing her next exams in 1 month and is doing her waltz and jive, her class do cha cha, samba, rumba, jive and waltz at the moment which seems to be the norm?

Little ones at my daughter's class enjoyed the foxtrot! I think they found it a bit easier to remember coz they always set off on the same foot and the tempo's slow enough to allow thinking time. They seem to find it fun getting to drag their feet around too. They certainly prefer it to 'swing' they always groan when it's time to practise that one for Blackpool!

Because you stop and start one the same foot, it seemed easier for me when I began dancing.

Blimey! Its hard enough doing it as a teen! lol
We use a very very basic foxtrot for the little ones, but they are partnered by an older dancer and its only a fun thing!

That may be a bit hard for them, but I'm sure they'll get it eventually!

a few of the younger ones at my school do basic foxtrot, and they find it soooo easy. They only do basics, but they've perfected even that.

The little ones at my dance school always do a 'slow rythem' dance when asked to do a foxtrot, its just really basic xx

But i think its right for them to do all the different types of dances from the very beginning, this way they will not struggle when they start to compete!

Fox trot!

I used to find it so hard

but i think you will find that the examiners will realise this and mark the kids up

If you understand?
