Creative Movement Teachers at local schools/preschools help please.. en>fr fr>en By krisk71 Comments: 96, member since Thu Sep 08, 2005On Tue Oct 16, 2007 09:23 PM
I have been contacted by a local private charter type school about teaching creative movement to their preschool and kindergarten children.
I am meeting with them Thursday.
So some questions...
How do you charge a school since it is part of their curriculm- they are not charging parents extra. So I guess I need a set fee right? (it is a 20 min ride- so should I take that into account?)
Do you do a certain number of weeks? Or school year till June?
I have my resume, and references etc... what else should I bring with me? I was trying to get some of my lessons together, my "props" I planned to bring (instruments, parachute, ribbons, bean bags etc...)
It just seems school is so different. Let me know any advice you can offer!
Thank you! 1 Replies to Teachers at local schools/preschools help please.. |

I've been paid by the hour as high as $90.00 and as low as $50.00.
I have also been an "outside presenter" where parents were offered the class at a discount, but the parents had to pay for it separately. That one I ran as in 8 week sessions and the preschool instisted that I offer the class at half of what I would have charged holding the class at my studio. Hmmm had to bring everthing to the preschool, and get paid less...
I was particularly frusted by the preschool that I agreed to teach the class for $50.00 per hour. When I calculated how many kids I saw every month (class was only once a month in this case) I would have been compensated $1,250.00 per month if I was being paid "per student". But instead received $250.00. However, I did get a bunch of students enroll at the studio from this preschool...so I guess in some way my efforts have been rewarded! |
