Extreme makeover-Irish Dance edition!

My dress got a makeover! I am VERY happy with it. It is now a two piece, shorter, and just fits much better in general.

The dress was originally completed in May of 2006. I lost over 20 pounds the next year, and my dress had to be taken in a LOT. Then we eventually decided to update it. And it's ready for the Oireachtas!

Here are some comparison pictures of front and back:

I'm a little "Eh" on the configuration of the soft cape...I think I must have changed the pinning of it from the final fitting when I put it on again. I think it needs a little more help. Ha. But I'm EXTREMELY happy with the rest of it!

WOW!! the new fit looks SO GREAT! I always loved this dress and now I adore it even more. It has such great color and tradition mixed with beautiful sparkle and seems timeless to me! I am not a huge fan of the new cape, it takes over the back a little, but I am sure you will get it figured out!

Aww thank you! Yeah, it was a little last minute so the cape wasn't exactly figured out. I'm thinking something a little less overwhelming. I don't know what yet. I'll let Molly fiddle with it some more. :)

It might just be my computer, but I don't see enough gold in the dress to pull off the gold cape. If my colors are correct, I would suggest a simple, soft ivory/off white cape with maybe some crystals on it with the other colors of your dress.

Just my opinion. But the dress looks beautiful on you.

Good luck at your Oireachtas!!!!

It's actually green fabric. A similar green to that colors in my dragonfly wings. Thanks for the compliment though!

Awww it's so pretty Rince! I am in love with the new jacket you guys made out of the bodice. Oh! do I spy a pin holding your cape onto your shoulder? I love that too!

very pretty! However, I would make the cape turquoise for the best colour balance.

I'll go against the grain and say I love the green! I love the updates and think it's really a beautiful dress (which it already was!)Cute dragonfly in your hair!

Is it a 5 panel dress now? Or did you just widen the skirt? I love that sparkly purple fabric.

Did you have to make a new skirt? How did you divide that side panel into two? that's AMAZING!!!

I love it...best of luck to you at the Oireachtas!!

Luna is being modest, not saying that she and Rince designed the original dress. Most of the remake was designed and carried out by Reelghillies, shown above with Rince at Colorado Fall Feis last Sunday. Rince also worked on the remake (she's a professional costumer for jazz/tap/ballet dancers and our bling consultant.)

Tuckeranne, the skirt is still a 3-panel front; when we expanded the skirt we added a pair of faux flash pleats.

Dancing really well is GREAT! in fact it's as much as you can ask of yourself the rest is totally dependent on a series of variables which you can't control (who else shows up, what kind of day they're having etc). I agree it is always much better to be rewarded for dancing well but unfortunately it doesn't always happen...

so, Congrats on an excellent performance!!

Thank you, seacaptain. It is great to be rewarded for a good dance day, but true that doesn't always happen. Unfortunately.
