Hello! For my Dance Teaching Methods class in college, we have each been assigned a form of dance that we are not familiar with, and a specific age group and we are suppose to develop a lesson plan for class. I was assigned Tango for 3-5 year olds. Now, I know this is probably not the typical age, but we are suppose to get creative with it. I was hoping for some help from some experienced tango teachers and dancers. I have started to research online and such but any ideas as far as activities, combinations and such would be GREAT! Also, any helpful websites or videos you know of would also be a big help! Thank you in advance!

When first teaching tango, my teachers say "T.A.N.G.O." in the rhythm you do the steps (1,2,3&4). I would think even the tinies could repeat that.

The only other thing that comes to mind, is discussing how the boys and girls steps fit together like a puzzle - one steps front as the other steps back.

why dont you have a look at the dvd madly ballroom, its about primary schools in the states learning ballroom and latin dancing, its really cool how they teach them and you might get some ideas.

Are you teaching them "ballroom" Tango or Argentine Tango? If you are doing ballroom Tango then the T A NGO (slow slow quick quick slow) works well. However, if you are doing Argentine Tango that might be more difficult to teach to 3-5 year olds. Please let me know which you are doing so I can be more helpful.
