Some groups don't get know choreography or haven't for a while. Maybe your groups' rep doesn't have a region. What region do you want to learn a dance from? 6 Replies to Which region do you want a new dance from? |

Kuban. It's the only region I haven't done a dance from! |

I have to go with Kuban for the same reason as Tinkerbell. I love our Hutzul dance, but it has not been performed for a long time. |

Kuban is not considered a region of Ukraine. Just like Gypsy dances, there shouldn't be a Kuban number in your program. I trained for 15 years under a director from Virsky, & he says that both Gypsy dances & Kuban dances should NOT be in a Ukrainian dance program.
Just voicing my opinion. |

I agree about Gypsy not belonging in a Ukrainian program, but I thought that Kuban was ethnically Ukrainian. What gives? |

Just because someone danced in Virsky, or even taught at Virsky, doesn't meant they know everything about Ukrainian folklore. It means that they know about Virsky and their repertoire. Kuban used to be a part of Ukraine. Ukrainians had originally settled Kuban in approximately 1792. The Kubanski Xhor still performs Ukrainian songs and dances. Though I am not a specialist, there are many places to find out this information. |
