Tis the week after Oireachtas
And all through my home
Nothing is decorated
And dust bunnies do roam.
The pumpkin still sits
On the front porch, you know,
And Wednesday was covered
With four inches of snow.
I must now switch gears!
Must be ready on time!
Break out the dark chocolate!
Break out the red wine!
There are cards to be written
There are presents to get!
But instead here I sit……..

writing poems on Dancenet…

I actually have my Christmas cards addressed. You might think, "How unMAID-like of her." Well, truth be told last year I never got around to addressing and mailing my cards. So in January, I decided to send them late. By the time I got to them, it was Valentine's Day. By St. Patrick's Day, I decided to save the addressed envelopes for next year!

Now, I just have to stick the stamps on and stuff them in the mailbox. I might get that done by New Year's Day.

Oh - I'm with you Megamaid - no Christmas cards written here either and probably not a chance of getting to them! I came back from the O and started a job to finance a trip to Nashvile - LOL! - That's pretty MAIDish, don't you think?

Twas the week after Oirachtas
when all through my house
I was not wrapping, cooking or loving my spouse.
Instead here I sit at my laptop for hours,
searching for photos; the NET do I scour.

Cmon Universal! With those pictures make haste
Not another minute can I sit here and waste!
So praying silently, I check their site again
(and again....and again)
Only to realize, I just can't win!

After the Oireachtas
We pack up our trophies, our memories of great fun,
Another year's Oireachtas is done.
I should be wrapping presents and baking and spreading good cheer,
But all I can think about is getting back there next year.

Don't feel bad! We didn't go to the O and we are not waiting for pictures, and we don't have any Christmas cards ready either. At least you all have a good excuse!

I'm behind in my shopping
My tree is untrimmed
My laundry pile huge
The slacks lay unhemmed

No packages wrapped
With ribbons of red
Presents still hidden
Well under the bed

One week after the Oireachtas
And I'm sadly behind
So much left to do
More presents to find

I will find more things to worry about
As the holiday draws near
And I'm sure to be forgetting something
That fact is all too clear

But there is one happy fact for sure
No need for a gift under my tree
Remembering my young lads Oireachtas smile
Is gift enough for me

Merry Christmas!

Ok... hang on a mo, last time I looked it wasn't Christmas yet...
Yes stir up Sunday has been and gone, yes the Advent calendars are up and ok the last posting date to the UK and Ireland was over a week ago, but it's not Christmas yet.
We still have another two and a bit weeks to go so pass over that wine Megamaid ;) put your feet up and take it easy.
As for the pumpkin, put fairy lights on it and no one will notice :P

Fairy lights, now why didn't I think of that? I DID take the small pumpkin from inside the house, to sit outside next to that pumpkin. Yanno, just in case Cinderella needs one to get to the ball or something. :)

Love "anothermomto"'s solution. Address them one year, get them mailed the next. Hopefully no one moved too far.

A few in my family are doing Christmas on Epiphany -- hey, that works, right?
