I just thought we should do alot more roleplaying in our dorm dont worry not everything will be role playing but it should lighten things up a bit!
This is for those of you who are unsure how to Role Play. Any further questions, please dont be afraid to Pm me!
What is Role Playing.
Role playing is pretending to be a certain character/dancer, and acting out how they are feeling and what they do or say. This is what we do at the vis alot of the time.
here are some simple guidelines when roleplaying
-Your messages should tell a story tell a story
-We assume that everything you write is what your character is doing or saying at that moment.
-What you post should sound like something you would read out of a book.
Example of a Role playing post:
QUOTE
Napthinr walked into the dance Hall, where many eyes turned her way. She was nervous, wondering what they she would have to do for her first combo
"What are we going to do first ? Napthine asked the boy in front of her.
Example of an INCORRECT Role playing post:
QUOTE
I walked into the Dance Hall, where many eyes turned my way. I was nervous, wondering what combo had to do.
"What are we going to do first?" I asked the boy in front of me.
NB - You are telling the story of your character, not saying: I did this, I did that. If you must say something about your Real Life, please place at either the beginning OR end of your post:
[OOC: Hey, I had a dream like that in RL, [name] !]
Miss at least one line and continue with your story.
DO NOT
-Place *'s (stars) around you actions (unless it is an Out Of Character topic)
-Say something about RL in the middle of Role Playing
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ALL...
DO NOT Role Play someone elses character and make them do actions or have feelings, because you don't know what they are thinking and feeling. Don't say "Napthine went to acting class yesterday" because they might not have gone there. Don't say "Napthine is always crying!" unless they really are always crying. It's a fine line defining what is Rple playing someone elses character, and what is not, but please try not to cross it.
RULES OF ROLEPLAYING
4) Play nice, be fair, and use common sense. Please follow the rules of Dance.net as much as possible (in regards to posting, language, and demeanor). This also includes roleplaying ONLY your own character. Do NOT roleplay other characters actions or words. You do not know what the others are thinking or doing. How would you feel if someone makes your character break thier ankle and miss out on their dream role (That's what I thought!!!) So again...DO NOT ROLEPLAY OTHER PEOPLE'S CHARACTERS!!!
5) Make sure that your posts help tell the story that is going on. You DO have access to create your own threads and polls; so you don't have to join existing threads if you don't want to and you don't have to wait for anyone else to create one. Do NOT post one-line babble or posts that interupt or discontinue the flow of the thread.
6) Please assume anything and everything you type is IN CHARACTER. However, if there is a real world thought that you HAVE to share, make sure to start that thought with OOC (for OUT OF CHARACTER). When you go back in character, start that NEW thought with BIC (for BACK IN CHARACTER).
7) And last but not least...HAVE FUN!!! If nothing else, this should be the easiest rule to follow. I know the rest of the rules sounds strict, mean, and just pure evil...but they are there so that you can accomplish this rule without ANY problems.
As a whole, I look forward to seeing each and everyone of you on here, having as much fun as possible. If there are any administrative concerns (ie: threads out of control, problems with users/site, unwarrented harassment, forgotten passwords, etc.)...PLEASE, PLEASE make sure to let the mods know though we haven't had that before so i think we will be fine
thanx again and remeber of you have no idea just ask!
