Hi!

I've just come back from the Imperial Ice Stars' performance of Swan Lake on Ice. It was truly exhilarating!! I think that was the most beautiful skating show I've ever seen - even better than "Mystery" by Holiday on Ice which I loved (and still do :) )! The level of skating was marvelous and the costumes were just fantastic!

Has anybody of you seen it? What was your impression?

To me, although the overall impression was great just like I stated above, two things were slightly annoying - some parts of the plot (eh, I'm just one of those people who think that Swan Lake really is a tragic story and should stay this way and all those versions forcing a happy ending onto it just give some of it's beauty away; I mean, not everything has to have a happy ending and here it's like finishing Romeo and Juliet with "and they lived happily ever after"... It just doesn't fit...). And second of all - the part of the first act when the three girls are en pointe ON THE ICE!! It wasn't looking good to me at all. To me, pointe should add this delicate, ephemeral aspect but here those dancers looked positively terrified of falling and for good reason! The parts that were done in skates on the toe picks looked much better and with much more grace so I don't really understand the point of pointe there ;)

Anyway, soooo... your opinions?
