Hello from Canada!

My name is Michelle and I will be visiting Brasil for 7 weeks for an internship.

My placement is in Rio de Janeiro (Botafogo Beach to be exact) and I will be living in Niteroi.

I'm SUPER excited to visit, and I saw there are a few members from Brasil, so I thought I would ask a few questions!

I've talked to many Brasilians and Cariocas about visiting, but I want as much advice as I can get.

Are there any places to avoid in either Rio or Niteroi? Any places you'd recommend I visit? I also know a BIT of Portuguese (I'm working on it).. will I be okay in terms of communication?

Any advice would be awesome, thank you so much!

Well, about Rio I can't help much, but basically it's a really beautiful city, that's for sure!
Now, if you ever come to S. Paulo, I'm definitely the person you can ask for tips

Just dont go near the favela (slums) you could get robbed or shot !!
And dont carry anythink around with you it will get stolen !!

But otherwise its a beautiful country with friendly people
