A lot of the dancers in my school put sock glue on. But I don't. I am to scared to! Does it hurt?

I've never worn it myself (I'm not competing at the moment, y'see), but my guess is that you'd probably want to make sure you shave your legs first. *giggles*
I'm sure it doesn't hurt, though. Otherwise it'd be hard to dance if every time you pointed your toe, your sock pulled on your skin.

Don't worry about sock glue, it's not scary, and I personally find it to be lots of fun!
It doesn't hurt to wear or put on, but occasionally aking the socks off can cause a bit of a twinge-- nothing serious, though. I'm sure if you were to put a wet wash cloth over the part of the sock that was glued before removing the sock, it would soften the adhesive and therefore remove the "twinge".

It's not sticky enough to rip hair off or anything; its about as sticky as the glue on the backs of stickers. Maybe a little stickier, but nothing like a band-aid or anything. Maybe more like scotch tape. Definitely not sticky enough to hurt, so don't be afraid of it!

I've never used it on poodle socks yet, as I dance in tights, but I've used it to keep the straps on a dress from constantly falling off my shoulders, and it worked fine. Didn't even discolor the fabric of the dress.

My mom uses it every night to keep her compression sleeve up (she has lymphoedema) and has never had any trouble with it.

IrishHolly - what a great idea! Sock glue as an alternative to "Hollywood tape" or whatever they call it.

Actually, I think sock glue (or "body adhesive") IS actually used a lot for that kind of thing. I know gymnasts call it "butt glue" and use it to keep their leotards from causing wedgies. I've used it a couple times in my belly dance class to stick on bindis and rhinestones once the originally sticky had worn off.

Hehe I used to joke with the girls at dancing that in the lead up to comps I wouldnt shave my lower legs so that my socks glued on better!! I never actually did it deliberately, but I am very lazy with shaving.

No I wear pantyhose so I have no need for sock glue.

I absolutly love sock glue and thats because I dont just limit its uses to my tights or socks for dance. If I'm wearing a dress that has a V neck or slippy straps or anything else of the sort that could put me in a awkward position I just use a bit and ZIP! no problem!

I LOVE my sock glue. Not only for Poodle Socks, but bra straps, strapless tops, and my evening dresses (one has transparent inserts, and I glue it to my body in some places so it doesn´t move and show parts that shouldn´t be shown *lol*

It works very well and doesn´t hurt a bit to get the clothes off.

I don't like it, but when I wear socks I wouldn't dream of NOT using it. I wear sheer tights under my socks (I don't think my legs are pretty enough and I don't fake-tan), and sock glue goes right through it.
The first time you put it on feels a bit weird, it's wet and cold and it tickles a little, but once you've rolled up your socks over it and patted it all down, you're fine. And you don't need to shave your legs, the glue isn't that strong.

LOVE sock glue!! hehe Doesn't hurt a bit when you take it off even with hairy legs (believe me....I'm the worst for shaving for dance class!! haa). Just roll it on, stick your socks to it, press it down, and just take your socks off when you're done and wash your legs. Very simple and I think it makes your socks look so much nicer and tidier (just remember to glue them the same length!)

Love it! My dance friends tease me because I wear it for regular classes instead of just for competitions. I hate when my socks fall down and it's a distraction so I just glue them up. Doesn't hurt a bit!

I think it a great thing, but I remember in a conversation with one of my colleagues. I was telling her about my girls dancing in a feis the next day and I remembered that they needed new sock glue, my friend was like "oh my god, you dont actually glue the socks to there legs do you" and I was like yes why ( as if it was "normal")She said I cant beleive you do that what next would you staple a wig to there head to keep it on? Then I realised,Some people must think we're quite nuts.Lol, I dont mention feising anymore to her, and i make sure ive always got sock glue.

FeisForFood I'm EXACTLY the same. I cant stand the faffing when socks are falling down. It doesn't hurt AT ALL. Promise

I used sock glue for the last 3 feiseanna I did over the summer & I love the stuff now! I only did two comps without it and I didn't think it made a difference but once my teacher suggested it to me & I got a tube... major difference. I was never worried about my socks falling down, but with the glue it just makes my socks look neater.

And it doesn't hurt Maybe if you haven't shaved in a while, use too much, and then rip it off like a band-aid... but probably not

Does wonders in keeping strapless bras where they should be .

hahahahaha, that is hilarious! Though maybe a tad close to home (god knows I've wanted to resort to desperate measures when my wig just would not stay put).

well I have not used it yet but I was planning on borrowing a friends at my next feis just to see how I like it before I go and buy a bottle. everyone says great things about it so I am actually kinda excited to try it out!! my next fies is on 2.16.08 wow thats really soon!! well I guess that is the day I will try it!!

I think its fun when you take off your socks after using it and then if you put on jeans or sweatpants you get a ring of color aroung your legs. =]

sock glue is very easy you do not have to worry about shaving or your skin hurting

What alternatives are some of you using INSTEAD of sock glue? (I recently had 2 new bottles not work & at $10 a pop am looking for alternatives.) Someone suggested Elmer's glue sticks, another suggested Aqua Net (emphasis on cheap, she said) hair spray?...I apologize if this should be a separate thread, but it seemed related.

I just had a show and afterwards i changed into jeans and went on home. Later that night I was in the kitchen and I said out loud "Huh, my pants are glued to my legs" and my family looked at me like "wtf?" haha

^^A friend of mine uses normal school-type glue sticks instead of sock glue. Much cheaper and I've tried it, it works pretty darn well.
As for the sock glue, big fan here, just that I've learnt from a prior close call to store it in a completely separate draw to my deodarant.
And no, I'm not kidding. I screwed the lid off and everything before I realised it suddenly smelt like feis It was like Zandb comes to life lol.
