Just curious on the average hourly rate you pay your dance teachers? Are you in a populated area or small town?

The going rate around here ranges from $15-$25/hr. My studio is in a small town outside of a middle sized town. Some of it depends on how much the studio charges for classes.

As a first year teacher, I get $25/hr. I would imagine my SO pays the more experienced teachers more.

I live on a peninsula (beaches everywhere), so fairly wealthy families.

Small town. New teachers $15.00 for the first 90 days. Then I go up. My teacher that has been with me for 3 years now is making $20.00 and is very happy with it!

Suburb of Seattle
I pay between $30-40.

If I paid less than that, I would have to settle for teachers with no experience and no formal training.

$20-$30 an hr is avg for us. We are in small town located one town away from our states capital, so we do get many students from the city.

Typical hourly rate is $20-$40 per hour depending on experience at our studio. We usually receive a $2-$5 per hour pay increase every year we return to teach.

I live in the metro NY area. My first year teaching was $15(Senior in college). The second year my pay changed to $20. I've been teaching 9 yrs and now am at $32. For the most part it's experience in my area that gets you the higher pay.

Are your teachers totally responsible for planning the classwork, choreography, etc.? Do you supply an assistant also? If so, what do you pay your assistants?
Do you pay more for the teachers for the advanced classes vs. those for preschool classes? A lot of the pay amounts listed in this post seem very high to me. I live in the suburbs of a large city. Our tuition rates are $30-35 per month for a one hour class per week. (others in my area charge this and a little more).

My studio is in a capital city suburb in the midwest, & I pay $22-26/hr; younger, inexperienced teachers get less. I also pay $10-11.50/hr for supporting work like dress rehearsals, picture week, meetings, etc. Plus there's a flat fee I pay for competitions & the company sleepover, and cash bonuses 2x/year that are based on the # of students an instructor teaches.
