Gymnastics No gymnastics classes available, but I want to get started? (and a bit of a vent at the end) en>fr fr>en By amber_mutt Comments: 9, member since Sun Jan 13, 2008On Thu Mar 06, 2008 03:08 PM
I can't find a single place to get gymnastics classes where I live. But I'm really interested in it, I was wondering what sort of things I could learn on my own that would give me a sort of head-start if later on I find classes or something. So what's safe to do at home?
I can do a cartwheel, and I had my front (left leg in front) splits for a couple of days, then lost it (overstretched I think).
That's about it, I'm 14 years old, and I'm taking ballet (started a month ago, it was the closest to gym I could find)though I might stop that soon (schedule problems and the studio isn't quite what I'm after I think. And I'm the only person in adult beginners and that makes me feel so stupid.)
So, what can I learn safely on my own and at home, or even better, can you think of any gymnastic clubs (that have recreational) near Atenas, Costa Rica? 2 Replies to No gymnastics classes available, but I want to get started? (and a bit of a vent at the end) |

I think the best thing you could do right now is stretch. Go to the stretching board to find the information you need. Also take out a few books at the library to learn more about gymnastics until you can take classes because gym is a high risk sport you will need the proper training and spotting. |

Ok, thanks! I printed out some stretches from the Internet that I think will help, and I have the NYC Ballet Workout, so I'll just work on that for now. |
