Hello!
I am Chinese, but I have lived in America for nine years, and I currently am seeking a dance job in Belgium. Now I speak Chinese, English, and French, but I want to know which one of the official Belgian languages I should speak in Ghent, Bruges, and Brussels. Do I need to learn another language? 6 Replies to French or German or Dutch in Belgium? |

Hey! If you want a job in Ghent and Bruges you definitly need to speak Dutch. When it comes to Brussels: officially it is bilingual city. So for many jobs in Brussels you have a bilingual (French/Dutch) requirement. However in reality, as it is such an international city, usually people are fine with French/or Dutch and English, but you never know until you actually contact your employer.
Note: I've been living in Brussels for 8 years, and only last year I decided to start learning Dutch. |

If you wnat to study Dutch, that might be a good idea, to get fully integrated. But everyone is very nice there and I'm sure with your language ability you won't need to take extra classes |
