need help finding a suitable convention en>fr fr>en

Hi

We have some students who are looking to take a trip next year and we would like to take them to a convention with a competition aspect to it. Something like triple threat, LADF, or the Pulse. Those are the only ones 'i know of, but there must be more, we would likely travel to Minneapolis from Manitoba, Canada. We want something that is a good competition, not a give away. At the same time they are not crazy fantastic dancers, yet, though the potential is there, so nothing where the level is so high they would be embarrassed.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I take my students to conventions/competitions all the time. Some that I recommend are.... Dancer's Inc.(www.dancers-inc.com), Dancer's Rock (www.dancersrock.com), Co. Dance (www.codance.com), & Tremaine (www.tremainedance.com). All four of these offer a wide variety of classes in their convention. The Pulse focuses mostly on hip hop and I do not think that it has a competition, but a "showcase" on one of the nights. We went to The Pulse two years ago and were not impressed. Once was enough on that one just for the dancer's to take class from the big names attached to it.

I'm not sure if they would be in the right area for you, but West Coast Dance Explosion has been my favorite since I was competing myself (10-12 years ago). www.westcoastdanceexplosion.com
It looks like they were in St. Paul last November, so might be worth a shot!

Tremaine is great! We also went to Jump this year & it was fabulous! NYCDA is excellent...you might also look up Hoctor's Dance Caravan. Best wishes!

Tremaine. I like NYCDA, also, but that doesn't sound like what you're looking for. And I have to disagree with whoever said they were not impressed by The Pulse. I went this year and it was AMAZING.

I agree! the PULSE was amazing! They treated the teachers like gold and the students really enjoyed the classes! Try it out!

West Coast Dance Explosion. That's a good one. Manhattan Dance Project is a good one too! That one is more down to earth but they are both good. There is LA Dance Magic too. Ihave attended all 3 and they are fun up beat and wonderful positive teachers!

I think it really matters what city the comp is held in and what other competition groups go.

I like Jump, Tremaine, LADF, NYCDA mostly. I think Tremaine is the most forgiving score wise, has the best convention for young ones and intermediate dancers.

We did Jump two weeks ago, was disappointed that Dan and Danny were not there. I highly recommend Tremaine - one that I competed/took classes at for years and Nuvo - my new favorite convention! The teachers come from such different styles that the students are exposed such great stuff. Loved it! Justin Giles all the way!
