In organizing my daughters new jazz costume I picked up some interesting little tips which i had not heard of before so I thought i would share them and hopefully people will add somemore for does and donts regarding any aspect of dancing:


Coloured long socks with matching coloured shoes are not a good idea as they break up the leg and draw too much attention to the feet.

Polka dot material(small and big dots)only really suitable for little kids.She is 11 and fell in love with some polka dot material in Dance&Design.I told her we might do something else with it and have chosen another lovely fabric.

Bright yellows - great on kids with darkhair/olive skin but be careful with other complexions and hair colours.
