OK, so basically I am a competitive dancer and cheerleader! As time is moving I am getting closer and closer to having to decide if I want to do Drill Team or Cheer Team in highschooL! I love both so much!!!!! WE do have a POM team (songleader) BUT.. i really am not sure what i need to do! Does anyone have any advice for me on how i can figure out if this or drill is my passion? I know the answer is in ME but I have no idea what to do right now! I am EXTREMELY flexable, I have tumbled FOREVER, I've also taken dance classes and been on both dance and cheer teams yet I am still confussed! Any advice?? When I was in highschool I did all star cheerleading and then took dance classes at a studio. Could you cheer on your hs team and take dance lessons? Thats what I did in college, I took dance classes through the fine arts program and then cheered on the team.

Oh my gosh, that would be a perfect solution! ONly...My HS team if you make it, that's all you do. Nothing else... and.. UGh this is so hard! They dont think i'll have time and they think i'll be extremembly tired! Which is probably true but.. ya kno? Hmm... I wish that would work!

If you take dance classes at a private studio you high school team cant stop you. Your school may have a policy that you can't be on any other school teams or do any other school activites outside of the team. But what you do in your own time is your own (and your parents) choice.

in high school i was able to cheer and do competitive dance. it took a lot of time and hard work, but in the end it was worth it. There are also girls that i danced with that are on the drill team in high school, and on the competitive team at the studio. if you really want to do it, then do it.

I know my high school team had a rule that if you were on the team you couldn't be on an all star team too because of too many date conflicts with competitions, but you could do dance, or music or whatever else on your own time, however you always had to put cheerleading first. like say you normally don't have cheerleading practice on tuesdays so you sign up for ballet on tuesdays, but it's the week before a competition so your coach adds in an extra practice on tuesday you have to go to that even if you have another obligation on tuesdays.

I know exactly what your going through, I had to make a simmilar decision last year. Ask yourself
- What practice do I look forward to go to more?
- where do I improve the most?
- where will I be more valued as a team member?
- what team do I get along better with? or what team(members) will I miss more?

Sometimes these questions can't be answered until you have tried the teams out but just because your on a team one year dosn't mean you have to be on it for all of highschool. Good Luck!
