Did everyone see the Simpsons today? They came on holiday to London. It must have been filmed a while ago because Tony Blair is still PM in it.

It was really funny Homer got sent to the tower of london for crashing into the Queens carriage.

I loved Homer in the tower praying: "Dear God of England... I'll spell colour with a u, use the metric system" etc.

It made me giggle

One thing I don't get though: do they not have roundabouts in America?

I saw that too. I loved the part where Lisa and Bart tried some English chocolate and got hooked - it just enhanced the fact that our chocolate is so much better than American chocolate!

(Not wanting to be harsh, I just really dislike American chocolate, and it's said to be a lot worse. Hershey's... bleurgh. Give me Cadbury's any day!)

And no, they have hardly any roundabouts in America. They have like two at the most, in the whole country. As was demonstrated in the Simpsons, they are completely thrown by roundabouts. I think they have tonnes of junctions instead... my dad said it's a bit weirder. I don't know though.

Didn't the Simpsons creators make the queen look so much younger! And she was a bit stroppy... she seems to always smile in real life!

I also loved all the little James Bonds bits... like Tony Blair with a jet pack, and the detachable London Eye pods...

I love it when American tv shows take the mick out of England. Like, in Family Guy, they briefly go to England in one episode, and Chris says "Mom, where's the bathroom?" to which Lois, his mum, replies: "First of all Chris, it's called the loo."

That made me giggle because EVERYONE in England calls it the loo!

Anywho, end of my rambling!

When I saw they were coming to England I thought it was going to be really offensive I saw the one where Family guy came to england when peter was playing for the london american football team (I love family guy by the way) and I thought the way they portrayed the English team was with a steriotype that barely exists now.
Although I found that most of Canada thinks thats what England is like, everyone knows the Queen and the entire country grinds to a halt at four o'clock to drink tea which we do with our little finger sticking up.

There were a few moments like that for example the butler in the taxi but I loved that they made a point of Homer being ignorant and thinking that was England when it wasnt.

I've not been to America but Canada had no roundabouts only I never really noticed at the time, they have junctions with stop signs.

I've met one American ever (it was cool she was from Portland Oregon, and I lived on Portland road England) she was fascinated with the fact that we said loo not bathroom, we were in Canada at the time and they said washroom both of which I don't get because I have a seperate loo and bathroom so if someone asked for the bathroom they'd get the room with a bath in it.

Anyway...

I think it's pretty hilarious how Americans think England is really posh, they should come over and see the REAL England and meet all our chavs! Haha!
