Just when I thought I had encountered every clueless parent in this business, here is an actual true phone call from yesterday.

We're in our dress rehearsal and recital week. The studio is covered in recital stuff, millions of emails have been sent for months, costumes distributed.

We sent an email out after the first dress with issues for parents to be mindful of. That same day I answer the studio phone and a dance mom says, "I just got this uh email about uh a dress rehearsal and well, are there rehearsals this week?" !

No, gee, we just have been pretending to have a recital but gosh darn it there's no tricking you! You were the smart one not to take us seriously!

They always ask me questions that are all answered in the paperwork that I just watched them read. Hoping that I will change the answer.

" Is the dress rehearsal mandatory?" YES didn't yu just read that on the form. AHHH!

I try to have all of the recital information on the front page of the registration packet in August. It includes the price range of costumes, tickets, dates of shows and all mandatory rehearsal dates.

My favorite quote, "Mandatory does not mean optional!"
