About The Nekyia
The Nekyia is a cabaret dance and performance company combining many different dance forms with cirque, fire performance, burlesque, and DJ beats. We perform at nightclubs, festivals, corporate and private events both locally and nationally. The company just celebrated its second anniversary, and we are looking for female dancers/performers to add to our lineup of talented, dedicated Showgrrrls.
Dancers must be fully trained in at least one, preferably more than one, of the following: ballet, jazz, belly dance, latin, samba… Preference will be given to dancers with additional skills such as aerial, acrobatics, theater, burlesque and fire. Dancers must already have stage experience, strong soloists encouraged, and be fit and comfortable with their bodies. Strength, flexibility, and a solid understanding of musicality and dance vocabulary are essential. Also essential is a dedication to the art and a good-natured, cooperative disposition - we all get along really well with a minimum of drama.
Rehearsals are select weekday afternoons in SF and the East Bay. Performances are both local and out of state. Payment is per performance only, and varies dependent on venue/role of performer.
