A litte background info.
I quit my job at a studio in late Feb due to false allegations from a bratty child in one of my classes. Not all of my peices were finished being choreographed except for my competition peice.
After leaving the studio i have kept in touch with my former students and they informed that nothing was changed in my choreography except for changing certain students around.
They did compete my peice but I'm wondering if that piece was under my name as far as choreography or not? They ended up winning an overall for their age and ability category.

Now im aware not all competitions list the choreographer in the booklet and sometimes just the studio but is there anyway of knowing if my former studio owner put my pieces in under her own name, and if i never signed anything to release my choreography isnt that wrong of her to do so?

I know this is dated a bit but I would like to know my rights and such for future reference.

Any insight is greatly appriciated =]

A lot of competitions ask for the choreographers name on the registration form but don't usually put it in the program. Some competitions only ask for a contact person such as the studio owner.

I guess if you really want to know you could call the competition & see if they have record of it. If she paid for you to do the choreography, it really belongs to the studio & it's not really "wrong" for her to put it under someone else's name. Personally, I wouldn't feel right about putting my name on something that I didn't actually choreograph but I don't think there is anything you can do if she did.

I don't know what your agreement was with the studio but unfortunately most of the time the choreography is the property of the studio. Even if you leave, the choreography doesn't. Normally they don't have the choreographer or teachers name listed in the program, and the SO probably all listed it under her with the registration. If the students won a first overall sometimes the competition will ask them who their teacher is, but thats usually the only time you will see or hear the teachers info.
