About Gypsy Productions
Hi ladies! I am new to the boston area and am really excited to start up an original dance troupe. First let me tell you a little about myself, and then what I want for a group, just so you can get an all around idea of what I'm looking for. I have been a ballet dancer since the age of six, training at a pre-professional level with award winning choreographers and principal dancers for Russia's Kirov and Moscow ballets, and various other world renowned companies. For years I danced as a principal in my company (Bossov Ballet Theater), as well as training for a few months with ABT in Miami. Along with my intensive training, I have also been blessed with the opportunities to perform in and out of the United States, as well as extended training in jazz, modern, tap and hip hop, and taught dance in a school on Cape Cod. Personally however, I am anything but your "classical" dancer. I am covered in tattoos, love metal, punk, hardcore,etc.. and all around live the "rocker" lifestyle. I have performed in a Boston burlesque troupe and go-go danced for various bands and djs.

I am looking for other ladies with clean technique in a variety of styles, who are "rebels" to the genres they studied as well (a.k.a. NOT the 80 lb, wispy plain jane speak-when-you're-spoken-to requirments for most companies). I want dancers who love all different types of music, and have that punk/rocker edge to them. The group will perform in a contemporary style, blending different types of dance and adding our own "edge". While I am putting the group together myself, once it is together I want an equal amount of input amongst everybody so we can form something really unique and fun. We will be performing as a group at miscellaneous venues, as well as collaborating with bands and djs and performing with them at their shows (there are already some interested). Ideally I would like a group of 8-12, but may change it to more or less depending on the response. Please contact me a.s.a.p. so we can set up an audition!! Looking forward to hearing from everyone :)

Hi there! You seem to be forming exactly what I have dreamed about for years. I would love to get in contact with you and see if we can set up a time to meet.

Hi, I know this was posted in June, but I am just now seeing this. I love everything about this! If the auditions have already happened, I would really like to know how this is going! I am such a rocker and I love to dance, but those things never seem to go together in the dance world today. I think this is great!

If only I still lived in Pittsfield, I would drive to Boston to come audition for you. I swear reading your post I thought I had typed it myself. I have been trying to start a company like this since I was in high school. Dancers and bands, Djs the whole thing. I love dancing to live music and I love hardcore girls who can dance their asses off! I currently live in Houston, TX have been trying to organize a small alternative dance company through the studio I work at. Just had to let you know that I have a very similar vision and wish I could join you!

I'm not sure if you are still looking for members. I would definitely be interested in auditioning and learning more about the troupe. It sounds very interesting! Please contact me either way! Thanks!

I know this has been posted for a while, but an extremely interested to know if you are looking for additional members. If not, I would love to see the group perform at the very least. Please let me know where I can find more information.

Hello,
My name is Caitlin, I just graduated with my B.S. in dance. I was accepted into graduate school for dance but decided to decline. I've had enough with formal training and institutional influence and need to do my own thing, something different and edgy. I read your post and it's like a dream come true. My fiance and I recently decided that I wouldn't be happy unless I moved somewhere to join a dance company before we got married. I am trained in many different types of dance and hope to one day start my own company much like the one you've described. I currently live in Rochester, NY but am willing to relocate for the right opportunity and this seems like it could be it. Please let me know more information.

What an awesome idea! I'm currently living in Tokyo, but I'm a Massachusetts girl for life, and may be moving back next spring or summer. I studied ballet throughout my childhood, but really fell in love with modern during high school. I am currently in a hip-hop dance crew here in Tokyo, so I am familiar with many style. But as for music, I am all about rock, metal, and punk! I love going to festivals and live shows, and combining rock and dance would be a dream come true. If I move back to Boston, I would love a chance to audition for this.
