SYTYCD Results?!?!? en>fr fr>en

So what do you guys think? I think that they made the right decision regarding the guys, but not the girls. Rayven's solo was good, even though I agree it would have been better en pointe. But I also agree with the judges that Jessica's solo wasn't up to par. I think that Jessica should have gone home instead of Rayven, considering everything. Shouldn't a good solo that could have been made better by dancing en pointe win out over a solo that wasn't so great? But that's JMHO.

I do think that the judges had a crummy decision to make, in any case, because if I could have hand picked the bottom 3, one of them would have been the disco dance. I must say that I liked the rest of them, with the exception of the "pants-ing" in the first one. I agree with Nigel that it may have turned off many voters.

What do y'all think?

Jessica (tango girl) was definitely my choice to get rid of. I actually thought the judges were too easy on her! When I saw her dance the tango, I was not nearly as impressed as they were! I hope she goes home next week. I thought they were right on with the guys although I'm not really a fan of Marc. I think he is very one-dimensional. Let's hope that he proves me wrong!

I think both Jessica and Rayven's solos left much to be desired. They were uninteresting and sloppy (the solos, not necessarily the dancers). I don't think Rayven's solo would have looked much better on pointe - in the clips they showed of her on pointe, her technique was not great. And her pointe shoes didn't fit qutie right.

Rayven's solo had elements that she couldn't do well, such as the Italian fouettes. When she finished dancing, I said to my sister "she has to go." Her technique wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't up to par compared to the technique of the other dancers in their own styles. Maybe she should have picked a different style to specialize in? I don't know if the judges/producers nudged her towards the ballet style or if that's what she really feels strongest in.

So I could have gone with either girl going - and would have picked the other girl to go next week.

I found Rayven's ballet technique painful to watch, even in the clips leading up the final 20. I read that she studied for a year at Ailey, I would have rather seen a demonstration of that technique, or even folklorico, than what she was showing in her solos.

I felt that the other two girls were a wash. Both, to me, were equally out of control with nervous legs and...well, just not interesting.

As far as the guys, my only refrence point for west oast swing is the Schwimmers, so of course I was dissapointed in Jamie. I love the guy with the amazing feet, but not enough to think that he should be there the final week, but feel that he should still be there over Jamie...most definetly.

Loving Will. I'll be curious as to how he does over the next several weeks.

I liked Rayven, but her solo should have been much, much better. I wasn't impressed. That being said, I think Jessica's solo SUCKED, and I wish she had gotten kicked off instead. I agree with the guy they kicked off, although I liked their hip hop dance a lot better than some of the others.

I think that it should have been Jessica that went home - while shes beautiful and dances well, she just doesn't light up the stage like Rayven did. I know it was a tough decision but I am disappointed that Jessica is still in the competition.

As for the guys, Jamie didn't impress me one bit, I am not sorry to see him leave.

How fantastic are the female dancers this year though! Particularly Kherrington, both Chelsie's, and Katee?

Wow!

I was there in Hollywood last night watching it live....and let me tell you ...the camera does hide alot. Jessicas solo may not have been HER best but Ravens was bad. Her technique was so bad in that dance. I was not impressed. I was disappointed in the choice of the boys. I wish they would have kept Jaime. He danced for the audience not just into himself like Matt, I think they had a tough decisiom though and Jaime would have eventually gone home? Maybe Matt will grow more over the nest few weeks. My favorite guy is Marc. He is SO intense when he dances. He was one of the only ones, when the camera was off, constantly going over what wade was telling him to work on and constantly going over his steps. Josh is also very cool. We were sitting next to where he was starting the opening number and he was chatting with us...he is a very cool guy. I am not very impressed with any of the girls this year (so far)...I think a boy is going to to take it this year for sure but that JMO. and Wae...OMG...that man...whew...he is SO hot...lol. He is just your typical looking everyday guy but the fact that he is a choreographer and just watching him direct what he wanted to happen...geez...yummmm...lol....thats all Im going to say about that...lol

Imho, the right dancers were sent home. Their hip hop duo was okay, but their solos were dreadful!!

I definately think the right people went home! Raven's technique made my eyes hurt. . . I was NEVER impressed with her though. I didn't even like her auditions. Those Italian fouettes. . . oh lord.

I hated Kerrington at the beginning, and now I like her. All those young contemporary dancers are soo good! :)

I am just watching Tivo-ed results show (because like so many of you I had my student's performances all week) and I am SO glad to hear that you all can see the lacking technique in these solos! I don't like to post messages making negative comments about the dancers- but as a pre-professional ballet teacher I find it very disturbing that they consistantly refer to Raven as a "ballerina". While she a very competant technical dancer (generally speaking)- knowing ballet "steps" such as Italian fouettes and bourres does not a ballet dancer make. I know it's t.v. and they cast "roles" to an extent- I guess this is just such a pet peeve of mine as a teacher. Was glad to see you agreed. Judges too! Looking forward to this week!

I don't think Jessica should have BEEN in the bottom 3, and I think that's what it came down to, in the end. I didn't care for Rayven's hip hop at ALL

Does anyone have a link for a clip of the solo as a thunder storm knocked out our TV signal just as they started the 'dance for your life' bit.
We did do a search but came up with nothing :(

Who do you think will be in the bottom this week?
I am thinking....

Dance #1 (don't remember the genre)
Salsa
Krump

The first dance was supposed to be jazz.

Was I grumpy last night or was the majority of the choreography... weak. I feel like the choreographers weren't playing to the dancers strengths... then again maybe they shouldn't. I've also grown tired of a lot of the gimmicky things.

Yep, I agree. Last night was pretty blah. Although I did like the Contemporary by Mandy Moore (I usually do not like her stuff) I also liked the Veinnese Waltz but that may be because I loved the story behind it.

The only two stand outs to me last night were Twitch and Kherington's Vienese Waltz and Josh and Katee's Musical Theatre. They really stepped up and their performances were electrifying.

I think Susie and Marquese will be going home. Their salsa was very weak. I thought the choreography was too ambitious for their skill level. Just my two cents!

Happy results night everyone!

My predictions for bottom 3:

Chelsea and Thanye
Susie and Marquis
Comfort and Chris

Ugh. Just terrible.

The whole night was weak in general, the only one I enjoyed was the Broadway by Joshua and Katee! The rest was boring.

I agree. The dancers seemed really uncomfortable. I mean, they have no time to really GET comfy learning the stuff but by the time you perform you have to fake it till you make it, right?

The choreography I felt could have been better executed with more confidence from all. I also thought in addition to the above that the Foxtrot was painful. The transitions the couple made were as sluggish as the salsa transitions. Everyone seemed tired in general, slow feet, no fire, even facially most fell flat.

I liked the Vienesse Waltz since they both seemed sooo comitted and joyful. Poor Mia stuck her foot in it being annoyed by Chelsea H's smile. That was endless, right?

I like how Nigel commented on the costuming since once again they stuck Chelsea in something weird-a ruff AND pearls??? Yes, and bows on the guy's shoes-a hot mess.

LOVED the Argentine Tango as well! I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Mark's performance. I was not expecting to like him. Now, I'm looking forward to seeing how well he adapts to the other styles.

I wanted to like Mandy's first dance (I usually like her choreography and she's always so nice at conventions) but it just didn't go anywhere for me. Loved her contemporary piece though.

Although I enjoyed Kherington and Twitch and I thought the dance was beautiful, I don't like sympathy dances. You can tell everyone it was a dance you created for your daughter during the results show.

I think Susie is going home this week. I could be wrong but I honestly feel like they throw a few weaker dancers into the top 20 as fodder to be voted off early. This gives the stronger dancers they like a chance to adapt to the stress of the show, connect with the audience and build a fan base. Once they hit the top 10 it's out of the judges hands. Any thoughts on that?

I'm looking forward to tonight and it always seem like a long time until next Wednesday night!!

Loved, loved Katee & Josh AGAIN, Twitchington was pretty, the rest...BORING! I think that is why Nigel went kinda nutty ...there was NO energy in the show last night & he was trying to ramp it up a little. He wants good ratings & boring will not get it...I agree with everyone else about the potential bottom 3. I also thought Mandy Moore's first number was weak & I felt bad for the dancers...choreography was so slow & dull! And I felt like all 3 judges were trying to prop up all the weak choreography by saying how GREAT it was...looking forward to tonight!

I totally agree on the first statement, and I've been thinking the same about the second one.

So is this the year for voting off couples? Anyone surprised with tonights outcome for the men. I won't use names....don't want to let the "cat out of the bag".

What were your feelings on the Krump piece? I generally don't care for it and wonder if it should be in the show. I completely lost interest in that performance. Was it the song, style, or choreography....don't know.

I do agree with an above comment about the show starting to lose steam. All of the choreographers are great, but maybe it's time for some new blood?

Agreed with the girl they eliminated...not the guy. And I hate that they said he did too many "tricks"...he danced for his life on the show with so much feeling & managed to entertain & amaze the audience at the same time.

I think they need to be very careful about not turning the show into a "dance snob" event where it is all about the art & emotion. Quite frankly that is why the show was a bit boring last night...several of the numbers lacked technical difficulty & the dancers were left trying to "tell a story" that did not come across & we were left with nothing but talented dancers who tried to make it work.

The average person watching is impressed with the technical dancing & "tricks" that they know they cannot do themselves. I love the art of dance, but I really want it all...LOL! I want to be WOWED! Looking forward to next Wednesday...Oh and I LOVED the opnening number! Go Shane!

Agreed with happydancin, I thought the gentleman kicked off was very technical and expressive, he was the whole package. Not cool. Glad about the girl though...she had to go.
