while i agreed with nigel about not wanting it to be all tricks, I think they let the wrong guy go. I was very disappointed in that choice. I think it should have been chris. there was no technical difficulty, no element at all in his solo. he seems like a nice guy, but i wasnt impressed.

as far as the girl goes, i agreed with that. she just didn't have enough.

I completely appreciated the "too many tricks" comment. I have soo many students that watch this show, some competative and some not and I'm constantly explaining to them that dance isn't all about tricks. I can not stand competitions because the students that do trick after trick walk home with platinums making my students feel like they're not as good, but I try to explain that I'm just not that type of teacher and never wanted that type of studio.

However, I was happy with the girl that went home, they guy not so much...but it wasn't Chris that I wanted to go, it was the other guy.

Why is it that the technical dancers get shunned for tricks and he poppers/hip hoppers get lauded for theirs? If this show is all about equality, let's take that all the way. Especially when you dance for your life...I know I would be tempted to throw in a couple of jumps and turns! The point is: work it! Wouldn't you?

I completely agree with leapturnjump. Well said. I think it's all political, anyway.

I totally agree Leap! Inmho, I think the show this year is slanted toward a hip hop dancer winning. A friend of mine who auditioned in LA this year said they invited mainly street dancers to Las Vegas. Hmmm...and then the three best numbers Wed. had hip hop dancers performing outside of their genre. Don't get me wrong though,I love Twitch and Joshua and hope one of them wins it. I just find it all very interesting and maybe a bit contrived this year.

I'm still a big fan of the show, but just not as impressed this year. I agree with the poster that said that the show needs some fresh blood (they need to keep Tyce though).

On another note--I do not agree with Nigel that Komfort is the best female hip hop dancer they had on the show. I prefer Sara from last year. Now she was amazing!! Just my two cents!

peace and love!

Ok so the Fox TV station in my area was having technical difficulties! Missed the whole show grr... Can someone PM me to tell me who left? Thanks!

I was dancing in a show last night.....can someone PM to let me know who was given the "boot" :) Thanks!!!

Susie and Marquese(sp?) were voted off.

I think they need to add tap dancing definetly to the show, I think it will add dynamics & a ton of difficulty. It's just not fair that every thing else gets used but tap. Where's ballet as well, or do a real jazz dance I barely ever see that. I'm not a ballroom fan at all though. It bores me, I'd much rather see tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, musical theater, modern, & hip-hop. So would all of my dancers. I saw this year again they didn't put any of the awesome tappers on the show, I really love Liz too, she's such a sweetheart she was a teacher at a workshop we attended last fall. We learned so much from her, and I was impressed I've never saw such a great tapper.

I agree with the other posters. I think they're looking for a hip-hop dancer to win this year.

^^ The problem with including tap is that it is SO HARD to learn so quickly... at least with the other styles, simple technique can be learned and executed fairly well with a lot of pratice. Tap on the other hand, would look extremely juvenile and basic because you cannot expect a dancer who has never done tap to learn a 2 minute choreography in an hour and a half. Ever try teaching your non-dancing friends to tap dance? I've tried, and trust me, it takes about fifteen minutes just to explain what a shuffle is and how it sounds and does not sound, which part of the foot to use, yadda yadda yadda. With other styles, I personally believe that the movements and steps can more easily be learned and imitated. I don't mean to say that other dance styles are easier or less complex than tap - no one take offence please - but I just believe that they are easier to learn in such a short period of time.

That being said!

I am glad Susie went home, but I am sad for Marquis. Chris should have gone home, his solo was as exciting as a dead leaf.

Although deserved, I was sad to see Suzie go. I liked that she was unique. If you read her profile, it says that she studied Flamenco, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Latin, Modern, and Afro-Caribbean. I feel like the show tried to squeeze her into their image of dancers. I believe that she even mentioned that she did street salsa and not ballroom salsa (and there is a difference.) I'm not sure how comfortable she was wearing heels. I think she knew they were going to expect more of her and ended up psyching herself out! Too bad... I think she might have been able to bring some interesting flavor. But no, I don't think she was quite as strong as some of the others.

I think Comfort needs to go. For two weeks she has BOMBED in her competition piece, and sure, she's good at hip hop, but she's not GROWING at all, IMO. Susie needed to go as well, but at least she was good her first week. My first thought was that Marquis was robbed, HOWEVER, I think he's more a soloist than a partner, and I think they took that into consideration when keeping Chris. Had the let him stay and he let down another partner, it would have looked bad for them

So I just watched it last night (I was on top of a mountain away from "civilization" since last Thurs), and I'm OK with who went home. While Suzie was a street dancer and had a different style than everyone, she started crying and got offended when the choreographer said that she was a street dancer and that's why she was having trouble with the choreo...when she should have owned it--that's what made her unique. I do agree with Nigel that she had lost the fire that she had in auditions.

Anyway, I do feel that there is a slant toward a hip-hopper winning, but that being said, Twitch and Josh aren't mere hip-hoppers...Twitch was in Hairspray (and other things) and Josh has had ballet training. They are well-rounded dancers who excel at hip-hop. I would be OK with either of them winning. (And I loved both of their pieces last night...they were the only ones I loved).

I also agree that they should save the snippets of the interviews that mention certain sympathy-drawing inspirations for pieces to be included in the results show.

So, I just got done watching the June 25th show and I was not impressed. I actually ended up watching something else until the DVR was done recording (I usually don't mind waiting for the commercials since I can't wait to get back to the show). There were 3 pieces that caught my attention, but all for different reasons and I'm still not sure I liked them.

The hip hop to Bleeding Love: thought the story line was good and they danced it well. I am enjoying the fusion of a more contemporary style of hip hip. However, didn't we see the same story with the No Air hip hop week one? A guy leaving his girl...

The Interesting contemporary piece: Still not too sure to make of it, but glad they brought someone new in. Her comic book theme was original, I just don't think non dancers will know what to make of it. I felt it was more of a modern piece.

The Samba: Yea! Someone finally performed this evening! Although none of the dances were all that great, I thought this one was the most entertaining.

I am still confused every week by the lack of techinical dancing. I can't speek much for ballroom, but as for the rest of the genres where is the risk, performance, skills, and entertainment? Maybe I'm just expecting too much?

I had an opposite reaction this week; I felt that all of the dances were good. Maybe it was the fact that I thought that last week stunk! Either way, there wasn't a dance that I felt was so terrible that they should be cut immediately, but some where weaker when compared.

I felt that the comic book piece (being that it was explained) was easily digestible by non-dancers. They danced liked two silly cartoons and the stops (which apparently were to display comic frames) were easily identifiable.

I'm tired of all the stories. Don't get me wrong, I love dance with a message, but it seems that every dance has to have a character with a story. Maybe they are doing this so that it peaks the interest of all. Either way, I wish they would tell us AFTER the dance what it is supposed to be... they rob me of the opportunity to interrupt put my own thoughts into each dance.

The other thing about this season is that I just don't have a favorite. There's been no one hat I dislike, but there's also no one that I am cheering for.

I guess I'm expecting too much this year, too because I wasn't crazy about last night. I did, however LOVE bleeding love. Had to watch it twice

I REALLY didn't like the quickstep. But then again, I'm not a ballroom dancer

Does anyone else think it's weird that the judges give props to EVERY choreographer after EVERY dance? Even the dances that weren't all that wonderfully choreographed get a shout out. I think a lot of the comments are forced this year and some things are said/done to make good TV. I hope this show does not turn into a typical "reality" show.

I'm not one that watched the show weekly- I just catch it here and there but I LOVED the Samba they did last night. They just seemed to look really natural doing it and I think they had great charisma. I agree about the story line dances. I love to see a dance with meaning to it but now its just getting boring.

Last night's show:
ZZZZzzzzzzzzz Comic Book Routine!ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
I didn't even make it to the last dance. I was so bored I put on a movie. A MOVIE!! During SYTYCD!

The judges doth praise too much. Mary said this season she doesn't know who is going to win. Really? Is it because everyone is bleh? Remember last year?? Lauren, Neil, Sabra, Lacey, Dom, Sara, Danny...doesn't matter who you liked the most, that entire group left their guts on the dance floor. This year I feel like the dancers are barely moving their heads!!

Raeeeerrr! *retracts claws*

Can we just vote Mary off?? I'm tired of her comments... (thank god for dvr). My favorites were Josh & Katee and the hip hop to
"Bleeding Love." I thought they let Kherington off too easy after her hip hop, way TOO cheesy for me.

I started off as a big twitch & kherington fan but i am starting to get annoyed. Last night Kherington was NOT all that fabulous. way to cheesey and they let her off. Twitch was good but not amazing. The judges like these two and are letting them off without real comments.

Bleeding love hip hop all the way...everything else had me falling asleep!

I think the dancers are getting criticized for things they can't control (um... choreography).

I'm sorry, but some of the pieces this year have been boring. I've seen plenty of interesting quick step routines, and this week's was not. Also, the "jazz" piece... hmmm...

Sorry Tyce, but the performance piece didn't do it for me as a "jazz" routine.

I'm rooting for Joshua and I think his name is Marc?? I think the men in this competition are definately outshining the girls. I do not have a favorite girl...in fact I can't even remember half of them.

I do 100% agree that the show isn't as exciting as previous years or maybe we just expect more every year. I usually love the big group performances, but haven't seen one that impresses me yet.

Well . . . the first half of the show just KILLED me last night! it was so boring! I still don't understand why they were so easy on Kerringhton and Twitch. Personally, I think this show is getting way too political, and I think that the producers already know who they want to win, so they are trying to persuade our votes.

It stinks, because this show was so honest and had raw, GOOD, talent in the first seasons. . .
I wonder how much longer it will be around.

Anyways, There are a few people that I wouldn't mind to see go tonight. . I don't really have any favorites. . .BUT I did LOVE the "bleeding love" dance last night. We all know not to use that song at competition this year. . . everyone will have it!

Looking forward to tonight. . .maybe a good group dance. :)
