I can't believe I'm doing this...
Hollywood makes movies that sell. Sex and violence makes money, so Hollywood continues making movies with more sex and more violence. It may not be a good example, but it's entertaining, and that's the point.
I don't understand what that has to do with religious fanatics, though.

Is that movie star a member of whatsitsname religion?I just forgot the names. He was in a movie"an officer and a genleman; and juggled glasses of alchohol.I think he has very strong religious views. Then there is a director or something called Brooks .Is he a member of a religion.i will try to remember all the names and write them later. Then there is the Simpsons cartoons with numerous references to the Jewish religion. There was a very old movie I saw once where a movie star looked into a mirror and then turned into some sort of religious person, but I can not remember all the details. It was as if Brittney Spears in her short skirt looked into a mirror and turned into a nun or a woman dressed in a burka. When I can remember more drtails,I will let you know. |

I really really don't mean for this to sound cheeky - but when you're on the internet on DDN why not research all these films/actors etc. you're talking about so you DO know all the names and all the details, instead of saying "that film with that actor" - and then you have a stronger arguement! It's really confusing just now - I for one have no idea what you're talking about or what point is being made?! |

I hope answer stays for a while or is it starfarming?Anyway, lets look at Indi Jones. He walks around with a little boy.Where did he find that boy?Why does he not take the boy home? Then he laughs as that poor man is about to be hit by an aeroplane.he is very cruel. Then he is a coward. He gave his book to Adolf Hitler to autograph. If he was really such a great man,he should have pilled out his gun and shot Hitler.....Then there is Mr and Mrs Smith. They try to kill one another and shoot thousands of bullets into their house. What sort of example is that?..Then there are movies such as "knocked up" that is very rude..Another is Sex in the City...My grandmother or great grandmother would not have even seen a newspaper headline with the word SEX in it..that is enough for now .I will try to think of more later.
I have been watching this thread and now just have to reply now since I am a huge Indy fan.....
If you had watched the films all the way thru, everything is explained, the little boy he caught picking his pockets.
He did NOT give his book to Hitler, if you watch the scene he is in a crowd trying to leave and gets pushed up to Hitler, he looks down, sees the book and signs it. The scene with the airplane.. I have no clue which one you're referring to.
All your points on these movies quite honestly don't make sense and are so out there that it's no wonder several of the members can't help but chuckle at this... as I have.
Times have changed from when our grandparents were kids... some for the good, some for the bad and there's no stopping it. |

Simple fact is..Hollywood is going to make movies that sell...and unfortunately in America...sex sells, that's why I go to the movies so rarely...why would I want to go spent 8.50-10.50 to watch people screw on a ginormous screen, I much prefer HK films since there is an (for the most part) abundant lack of sex. I believe the actor your are referring to is Tom Cruise, and the movie was not Officer and a Gentleman..that is a Richard Gere movie..the film was actually called Cocktails. |

Anyways, back onto the main subject: Rotti: It's not YOUR job to be telling us that the movies we watch are 'blasphemous' and 'corrupt'. |

Patron is a top-shelf tequila. And testicles are gonads. Patron + gonads = patronads. At least, that's what I thought he meant. |

I think that the Expecto Patronads is refering to a Harry Potter joke. Saying Patronads instead of Patronus. I can't remember where it is from though. It is either Potter Puppet Pals or something else.
Anyways...what was the topic again? Something about movies being corrupt or immoral or something. |

Yes, it's from Potter Puppet Pals. Broomhead is also from PPP.
The Elder Swear is hilarious, even if most of it is bleeped out... |

True story. But do you call ovaries "nads" or just testicles? Because in America, we just call testicles "nads" and we're right because it's the American way. |

Fair point. Ovaries get largely ignored so they haven't gotten their rightly deserved nickname yet.
Although a few years ago there was a hair-removal cream being touted on Australian day-time TV called "Nads", I'm not sure if it picked up overseas.
"Nads! It's an American tradition!"

Oh, don't get me started on music,
I don't blame the Emo music, the Hip-Hop, the Grunge, the Dance, the Goth, the Glitch, the Industrial, the Metal, or the Alternative.
I blame Gloomy Sunday for all the pain, misery, suicide and depression post 1933.
(for those who take everything seriously, I make this comment with my tongue so firmly planted in my cheek, it's bleeding)
