Great post....
My daughter always drinks isotonic drinks and eats mainly fruit (melon or bananas) But she always has a supply of Jaffa cakes to keep her going and usually some Pringles and Snaps for in the car on way home..

Kari has recently discovered eating Sunflower seeds and almonds. She really enjoys them and really sustains her energy levels. Also another favourite is bananas with chocolate spread!

Hi ya, great post :)

I usually take sandwiches, yoghurts, crisps, cereal bars, and lots of fruit as this seems to keep my daughters energy up and i always have plenty of squash and water to give her when she comes off the dance floor :) xx

Thanks. Those tips were very interesting. My daughter always struggles with eating at comps and very often goes without food all day, due to nerves. I'm going to pack a few of those things for our next comp and see if I can coax her into something.

I hardly eat when im at a competion I mostly just drink flavoured water :) but I think I might try some of the things from the list and see if it helps me :)

I always make my daughter eat a bowl of cereal for her breakfast which gives her a natural high before we even leave the house. I always pack up our lunch the night before and always make a big bowl of pasta along with salad boxes and fruit.. My daughter will eat these things throughout the day, but it's always hard when other kids are getting bacon sandwiches and chips (junk food) at comps.. I always make a deal with my daughter that after she's danced and we are our way home we'll stop off at Mcdonalds and get her a happy meal. Luckily though, she's always too tired and not hungry after all the salad and pasta... xx

another thing is to eat pomegranite seeds (they are horrible but give little energy boosts all through the day hope i have helped

This is great advice to all us dancers out there, i often find that when dancing all day you get so tired that you cannot be bothered to eat or drink and then end up feelin lethargic, with an headache and feeling unwell, will follow this advice at my next comp. :)

Some excellent information on your post there. i tend to drink water at competitions and know of other dancers that drink redbull, I am going to show them your post and just let them see what symptoms they could be getting from the effects of false stimulants, thank you so much for opening my eyes.
