I'm looking for hip hop songs for an advanced group of girls that had a jungle sort of theme... it doesn't necessarily have to be a jungle song but something with that sort of beat that could be used for a hip hop dance. Or like a maneater sort of song...!

Any jazz song ideas for a theme about being "crazy/insane?" Something dark or creepy would be great! I've had no luck. If it helps, the girls will be in straight jackets and maybe in cages, too.

DanceNPsych... try "Outta Your Mind" by Lil Jon. It's hip hop and there is an edited, clean version out there. So be careful not to accidentally get the unedited version...lol. Our studio did it last year and they were crazy people too. Everyone loved it. They won tons of stuff.

I am teaching at a new studio this year and the recital is "Dance through the forest". I have never done a theme before and I teach hip hop. The song I was planning on using in Apache (Jump On It) by Sugarhill Gang. In my head it kinda works, and I can chero the dance so they are "exploring". Does this work or do you guys have any other ideas?

KangarooPaw- thanks! I definitely will download right now! I haven't even thought about that song, but I'll be sure to catch the clean one!
DancingJewels- try searching for "jungle" or some variation on itunes. I just tried, and it brought up some hip hop songs. You may find something you like!

aliciawhitaker- have you thought about Christian songs? Sometimes they have some great inspirational songs, that aren't focused on worship and praise. You could try the artist Plumb. If religion isn't your preference, then maybe Beautiful by Christina Aigulara or something like Miley Cyrus' The Climb. (for lyrical). Google search is useful, too!

I have been through all the pages and have seen this mentioned a few times but not a lot of responses. I have an acro trio that want to be puppets or marionettes that come to life. Does anyone have a song for this - ages are 8-12, not looking for dark or creepy.
Thanks

There is a very old movie with Dick Van Dyke that has a cute song for that. There are actually wind up sounds and music box music too. I think it may be "Babes in Toyland" but I am not sure. The scene is with Van Dyke and a girl dancing for a king pretending to be a wind up toy and music box dancer.

We are doing a Junior Ballet theme - Nursery Rhymes.
There are 6 different groups all needing separate songs.
Does anyone have any song suggestions?
The easiest thing to do is to first pick the nursery rhymes you'd like to use, and then find a song that will work with that "character."
For instance, you could do "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and either have one girl be Mary and the rest be sheep, or they could all be Mary and dance with stuffed sheep. You could use "La valse d'Amelie" by Yann Tiersen. It's very lullaby sounding.
Or how about "London Bridge Is Falling Down?" You could make a bridge prop or have the girls dance with blue scarves (water). They could dance to "Caribbean Blue" by Enya, which is very "watery" sounding.
