House nyc dance meetups lessons. more active forums? en>fr fr>en By MTtom Comments: 8, member since Sun Aug 24, 2008On Sun Aug 24, 2008 06:11 PM
I've just taken Mr. Green's BDC class for the first time, and I loved it, but I didn't like how its only once a week. It was also hard to pick up the steps right away, I had to concentrate pretty hard. I do practice on my own time as well, but I don't think its enough. I'd like to know if theres any meetups or beginner lessons available (i did read the other post), but I remember reading somewhere that some of those classes aren't too great for beginners.
People have told me to goto clubs also, can ya guys recommend some clubs?
And It would be great if you can recommend me a more active forum based on dance, house dance, in general
peace out,

You will have to practice no matter what you learn. You have to do this will everything. You have to have muscle memory.
I know it is hard to obtain things in a week. The best thing for you; give yourself dance exercises.
One thing I recomend to people is spell your name out on the floor by using different footwork and steps. This will help you work on different movements. Or spell out the A,B,Cs.
But before you do this I recomend on starting out with a basic step that comes naturally to you. Once you find that step;start from that basic position.
This is one thing I recomend. Don't get frustrated on not picking up the steps right away. Remember dancing is never ending and you will always learn something new. |

Hey,
ive taken classes at Broadway dance center with Mr. Green as well. I agree it is difficult to get the steps. but practice makes perfect. you shouldnt stop learning the routine once class finishes. Keep doing the routine over and over at your own pace until you've got it. i also recommend that you take the absolute beginner's workshop. Good luck!

To all,
GOD BLESS US ALL and I pray all are praying and all are well. AMEN!! I am glad to see that my class at BDC is hard!! LOL!! I have many ways of teaching. My class on fridays at Champion Studios ( when I am in town), is BASIC and Freestyle. I made that class for BASIC dancers. The class at BDC is a Beginners class, but I am focused on CHOREOGRAPHY, as that is a commercial school; video, stage, etc.... When I teach the Basic class, there is no routines, just steps and other rudiments. I usually announce my class in BDC, but many people dont listen. The Friday class has helped many that get frustrated by BDC's class.
It's two totally different ways of teaching; night and day. I also have other ways of teaching that I will be opening up to the world soon. Teaching is a process that has to always be thought out for all types of students. Making learning easier the more I see a problem. See all one day soon.
GOD BLESS US ALL and KEEP OUR EYES ON JESUS DAY and NIGHT,
Brian |
