I wash every time, unless we're going away that weekend (only one ballet class a week ) in which case I'm not always certain they'll be dry on time.

But yeah, in general, every time or two.

I can't imagine not washing both after every class. Well, every night, on somedays I have a class 2-2.30 then 3.45-5, I generally keep my ballet clothes on the whole time, but straight in the wash when I get home. I have about 5 leos and about 10 pairs of tights at the moment, and do ballet 3 days a week.

I wash my tights and leis together but I use a fresh pair of tights and Leo for a new day and at the end of the week I wash everything and hang it. And I do machine wash because I don't really have time to hand wash

I wash my tights after every class, because they're pretty much underwear to me and not washing them would be like not changing your underwear. Leos I am a little more relaxed about because I have 4 so there's enough to last me a couple weeks.

I just dance two times a week and after every lessons I air my leo and my tights. I wash the leo once a month.

I wash mine after every lesson, that way they son't stink. I only do laundry once a week though. That's because I have 4 black leos and lots of tights.

I only have class once a week but when I was doing our Christmas show and I had to wear a leo and tights everyday for rehersal, I washed them like every 3 days. I dont wash them every week now since I only have class once a week.

Hi I only have one class a week (I wish I had more! ) but I still wash bot leotard and tights after every lessons. Because I know I will practise at home in them later in in the week. I use the washine machine for my leotard but hand wash tights because I'm scared if they will rip in the machine

washing after every use is ideal.esp in the spring/summer when you may sweat the most.
if you only have an hour class you could get away with washing after 2 uses (except if you sweat loads,aways wash!)

you probably already know that no matter what the tag says,it's always better + you'll get more use from your leos&tights if you hand wash them (little fact:same is true for bras!!).hand to dry on a line properly or lie flat to dry.make sure to get all of the detergent out or else you may get itchy.fabric softener helps with the itchy loads!

Uuuuugh that's pretty gross not to wash after every class!! Or, rather, to wear the same leotard twice without washing in between.

I have enough leotards and tights that I can wash them all once a week or even two weeks and still have a clean leotard and tights for every class.

Do your classmates and teacher a favor and don't wear your leotard and tights more than once without washing in between. Discipline and hygiene are two qualities dancers must possess.

If you're worried about wasting water, take the clothes into the shower with you and wash them there or hand wash them as the other posters have suggested.

In my opinion, if you're not sweating buckets you're not working hard enough, although if you're wearing underwear with you're tights you are most likely a recreational dancer and therefore don't necessarily care to worry about that.

I bring a towel to class because I sweat so much, so it's not an option to not wash in between uses. It's really disgusting to think about! And yes, I wash my towel too, ooh that's even worse not to wash lol!

I don't wash my warm ups every time, but that's because I don't actually wear them for class. If I do happen to wear them for class and sweat in them, however, I will wash after. Otherwise, it's once a week.

tights are pretty much underwear to me, I have like 6 pairs and I only wear em once before they go in the dirty laundry basket. My leo I wash less often and now we have lycra instead of cotton as out uniform so I wash it like... once every week or so

I wash my leos and tights after every school day. Tights are my underwear and I have many classes and rehearsals everyday so I wash my dancewear when i come back from school. I have many leotards and tights so it isnt problem.

I wash my stuff after every lesson. Especially my tights.

It has to be both leo and tights after every class, just couldn't bring myself to wear either item again once i'd spent an hour & half working my butt off in them during the previous class.

Although I do wait until the end of the week to wash them altogether, and with 4 to 5 classes a week, at least it gives me a chance to work my way through my dancewear drawer, there's no point in having a nice collection of leotards and not wearing them!!

Like others have brought up already, tights are like undies to me. It would be common sense to wash them every time

Ditto on the leo's.

Plus, I always shower before class (I know it might seem strange, an old habit from the past where hygiene rules were -understandably- strict and showering prior was encouraged. I quite like it, I always feel really fresh/clean/happy at class and smell fresh/pretty even when I'm hot. On a side note, a warm shower helps get those muscles ready during winter time)


Thankfully I don't sweat heavily overall at all, but I still love practicing good old hygiene!

Well I have about 30 leotards! I wash them when I have about 2 left so I will have some to wear if they don't dry quickly! I sweat a ton so I only wear each once before washing them. same for tights.

In my opinion, reusing tights is like reusing panties and socks. Leotards.... well, if I'm only doing a really short class (an hour or two), I'll wash the leo every 2nd or 3rd class, but if I'm rehearsing heavily, into the wash it goes!

I don't wash them after class immediately mostly when I run out of clean ones I'd dump everything into the washing machine and wash them, but wearing them twice that never, sweat over sweat becomes very smelly, and you don't want to smell like a "dead" fish during class!

I also wash them after every class and coulnd't really imagine to not do so..

I have enough leos and tights for at least one weeks work (meaning every-day-work), counting in my worn-out maybe even for two weeks. This might sound expensive on first sight but isn't really when you once have your stock and just sort out the really old ones from time to time. plus: who really likes to look at onesself in the mirror everyday with exact the same clothes on?! I care about my ballet-clothing even more than my "normal" wear to be true...

So I come home in evenings, let them dry over night and have a ballet-laundry once a week..

Everyone has to decide on his own I suppose and I know people who don't sweat to much during lessons.. I don't know wheter they're working hard "enough" our not and I guess it's their decision, but mostly they are those who don't come more often than 2 times a week and I can understand if they don't want to buy more leos..

But really the worst thing: I also experienced students whose clothes started to smell..

This specific one used to leave her clothes in the studio so she wouldn't have to carry them around all day and THAT was really gross!!! I can understand with pointe-shoes (lots of girls leave them in a box in the studio, though I wouldn't.. I would always prefer to have them with me and what do they weight really?!) or whater-bottles or whatever.. but clothes?! that's a no-go if you asked me...
