We heard through the grapevine that PDTA -Hoctor had gone bankrupt and cancelled all convention/competition dates. As our competition team intended to participate at the Richmond event in February this was a shock but we thought just a rumor.

A trip to the website and around it a bit did reveal a big anouncement say just that they HAD all been cancelled.

Does anyone know what the real deal is on why? this was always a huge event and they have been around forever!

We are looking to change - a tough item with the SO pregnant and ude around then but I am still concerned for the folks there at Hoctor's. The website is still up with registration info and other items but te announcement was pretty clear.

Now today some of the dates are back on the page - I'm thouroughly confused!

Anyone heard anything?

Yeah, it really sucks. We were gonna go, but, they went bankrupt. Jerry Rose and Loree Russeau(sp?) created a new competition with a few of the PDTA teacher's. That is what my studio is going to. It's called Dance Theatre USA. ( dancetheatreusa.com ) They are only going to three cities at the time. Michigan, Tennessee, and West Virginia. So, maybe they're coming near you!

we still didn't get videos that were ordered over a year ago or trophys or pictures? My students parents are so mad....

We finally heard back a quick "yes we have cancelled" and then a letter from Jerry that they are startign something new but WOW. The letter made it sound like "differences" not bankruptcy but whoever knows.

I will be interested to here how the new event goes. If you think to do so please let me know. None of the areas are close enough to us this year but if they have other options maybe in the future. But after this quick drop with no word to those who had signed up I am not so sure. As I said will be interesting to se how the new event does.

What makes it worse is they actually closed down back in the early fall but just did not tell anyone. (A friend works for a Dance magazine and told me in Sept. that they cancelled their ads and were closing down.)

Does anyone know if you can still order music from their website? I just tried to purchase a cd and it said it was approved but there was communication problem and the transaction was voided but when I looked at my bank statement online they took out the money. I tried calling the number but it has been disconnected.
