I epilated my legs over summer, and I did one leg again last night. It make me break out in a really painful rash and leg leg swelled a little! :(

Any clues on why I reacted so bad? I've never heard anyone get a rash as bad as this. Is it suggestable to no longer epilate, or is it common?
Thank you!

That is actually quite common for me. Do you have sensitive skin? I think it's just a result of the hair being ripped from your leg. I also have the same result when I wax. Usually I do it at night. When I wake up the next morning it's gone.

I don't know if it's normal, but it happens to me!!

I get like that after I wax for a couple of days, which is why I always make a point of getting my brazillian done a good 4-5 days before any given vacation I go on. One time I did it the night before a 20 hour flight and good lord, just imagine sitting stuck on a tiny little airplane with no where to walk, can't get naked, nothing.... with a rash in your nether regions. YUCK.

The picture looks really bad, but it just seems like every follicle is reacting to the ripped out hair. It will probably go away in a few days.

Just make sure to MOISTURIZE like crazy. Don't get the cheapy lotions full of fillers and colors and fragrances, get something really high quality with good moisturizers, like Aveeno or Lubriderm. And make sure that next time you do that, moisturize for a good week at least once a day beforehand. Moisturizing really helps sometimes.

Thanks :)

The funny thing is, it's only on the inside of my lower leg. The outside and thigh are fine!
I've got to tackle the other leg tonight though, although I'm considering just shaving it. Watching the hair grow back will be funny! One baldy leg, one stubbly.

I don't have sensitive skin, I wax my eyebrows, upper lip, arms and I've never had this reaction.

Hey!
Im a qualified therapist & lecturer
It looks a lot like foliculitis.
This happens when the hair root is regrowing & because the hair follicle is traumatised grows inward |& causes these lumps
The best wat to get rid of them is to exfolliate or body brush daily
