Oh and just something funny- Mr. Daukayev and Madame Lobanova did the audition, and they couldn't resist correcting us! They were coming up to us and fixing our hand or head or something! It was kind of wierd for an audition, but I was happy they did. Also, they spoke to each other in Russian, so if you're auditioning, don't be surprised if they do that at your audition. :P

-what did you audition for?
Bolshoi CT Program

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific)
9-14

-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition?
Pointe, only a sous sous combination in the center, pique turns (or straight piques for those who had not learned turns yet) and a bourre/single pirouette (or passe for those who had not learned pirouettes yet) combination.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition?
Turns on flat, because the floor was really sticky.

-was it crowded?
Not really, we had some extra space in the studio. I'd say in the thirty range.

-how much was en pointe?
Last ten minutes for three combinations.

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do?
Students 11 and under were expected to do one on flat and none on pointe, and older students were expected to do two on flat and one on pointe.

-did you have to do fouettes?
Nope

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!)
Yes! I really liked the teacher and the class... he reminded me of my Russian teacher at home.

-what did you audition for?
Chautauqua Workshop II

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific)
Was supposed to be 11-14, but ended up being 9-15.
-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition?
Er, nothing? The entire audition was pretty challenging. I guess plies were easy, but when are they not? lol.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition?
Deggages were confusing, but I didn't mess up, frappes were a disaster, and center was kind of complicated but I was okay.

-was it crowded?
No, if was in the big SAB studio and there were 38.

-how much was en pointe?
Last ten minutes; two combinations: echappe/passe in the center, and then a turning combination from the corner.

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do?
At least two on flat, and we didn't do them on pointe.

-did you have to do fouettes?
No

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!)
Um, kind of. It was awesome because the class was taught by Daniel Ulbricht, but I just experienced this... icky feeling kind of. From the beginning of the class, I was like, oh god, I'm going to et rejected. That kind of got me down.

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? I would say 2. It wasn't specific.

-did you have to do fouettes? No

-did you have fun??? It wasn't too bad.

-what did you audition for? NCSA

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific) All together

-what was the easiest thing at the audition? Grande allegro - saute arabesque, saute passe 2x, step saut de chat x3, step repeat, then demi contre temps to the other direction

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition? well, for me, pique turns on pointe. especially since i somehow ended up going in a group (or lack of group) all alone. absolutely pathetic! the barre was also challenging because many of the exercises were performed two times en dehors and en dedans with both sides consecutively. tiring.

-was it crowded? no, about 18, 20 people max

-how much was en pointe? two combos at the barre to warm up, a pique/pirouette combo, and an across the floor embarrass myself combo

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? doubles, but you could do a single the first couple of times on pointe

-did you have to do fouettes? nope

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!) no! after humiliating myself at the ballet portion, i just wanted to run away as fast as possible, but then i had to take the modern portion! total nightmare! however, i think it was just a first-time audition thing. either way, the combos were hard to dance to and be expressive in.

and to add, they don't really care as much about body type as they do about MUSICALITY!

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? She didn't specify but most people only did one or two.

-what did you audition for? Joffrey NYC

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific) 13-21

-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition? grand allegro: it was just tombe pas de bourre, glissade saut de chat.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition? Barre was very fast-paced with some confusing combinations, so I guess barre.

-was it crowded? Well, there were only around 30-35, but the studio was EXTREMELY small so it felt crowded.

-how much was en pointe? The last fifteen minutes for two combinations; echappes and then a sissone/passe/pirouette combination.

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? Didn't say, most did two, some did three and I saw a few people just do singles. Oh, but there was this one guy who did seven... O_o Haha, the auditioners definitely looked impressed! I personally did two on flat and two on pointe.

-did you have to do fouettes? Nope

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!)Yes!!! this has been one of my favorite auditions out of all that I've done! Especially compared to chautauqua last week.... :P

-what did you audition for? Nutmeg

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific) All together

-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition? It was all verrry simple! I guess the pointe section was much easier than I anticipated, probaby because most of the auditionees were young.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition? Again, for me, pique turns...but they were just plain ol' pique turns across the floor at a relatively slow tempo. It's just my weakness, and I was especially nervous since last audition I made a FOOL of myself during the across the floor turn combination!!

-was it crowded? No! Only 5 people!

-how much was en pointe? 5 combinations - echappes, retires, grande allegro, walking across the floor (nevermind, THAT was the easiest part of the audition :P), and pique turns

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? only one! and none on pointe!

-did you have to do fouettes? nope!

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!) yes! i wasn't nervous at ALL by center, so I was actually able to enjoy dancing :P

-what did you audition for? Washington School of Ballet

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific) All together

-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition? I guess the first pointe combination we did. It was just sous sous, echappes, and passes.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition?
It was all pretty challenging. The combinations were very complicated and fast. There was a turn in almost every center combination.
-was it crowded? No, I think less than 20.

-how much was en pointe?
The last 15-20 minutes for two combinations. There was one basic one that I described above, and another with some plie releve walks into a pique arabesque, then tow pique turns into a soustenue turn and then tombe pas de bouree, double pirouette.
-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? Didn't specify. Most did two, but I saw one girl doing like, three or four every time.

-did you have to do fouettes? Yes!!! I was not expecting it. There were eight of them in a center combination.

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!) Yes. Even though it was long and both mentally and physically challenging, I had a good time. :)

what did you audition for? SAB

-what age group you attended (young middle or old if you dont want to be too specific)All together (NYC audition)

-whatwas the easiest thing at the audition? The designated pointe section. The entire thing was on pointe for 14 and older (but I did too since I'm turning 14 soon) but the part where the younger kids had to put on their pointe shoes was really easy. It was just and echappe/passe and pirouette combination and then pique turns/bourrees from the corner.

-what was the hardest thing bout the audition? There was this one ballance combination in center that was like, ballance ballance pique arabesque plie arabasque, demi cont dre temps fourth, pirouette en dedans. For some reason, I kept on landing on the wrong side for the pirouette! I wouldn't say it was hard, exactly, just confusing.

-was it crowded? It was more crowded than I expected for a daytime audition, but it was only like 20 so it wasn't crowded at all by regular standards. We only needed one barre in the center.

-how much was en pointe? Everything for students 14 and older (but I did too since I'm turning 14 soon), and the last 10 or so minutes for younger students.

-how many pirouettes were you expected to do? She said one or two, whatever we were comfortable with. I saw most people doing two, though.
-did you have to do fouettes? Nope!

-did you have fun??? (I hope you did!) Yes! I LOVE the Balanchine style, and would love a summer of just that. Plus, Suki Schorer taught our class, which was amazing. :) She still demonstrated on pointe, and she had such amazing turnout and extensions and feet. :)
