I did Bohemian Rhapsody years ago (it was a hit) actually went more contemporary. I felt the choreography and the music were the stars and did not want the costumes to be overwhelming, too. I did not go classic but just clean lines and simple dresses (chiffon) for the girls. We had no boys in that dance but if I did, simple pants and shirts. Make up can be a little bit more, though.
No matter how you go, best wishes on your piece. I love that piece for ballet. |

How do you want to go with it? I would google Queen- they did the all black thing for bohemian rhapsody.
You could do a Wayne and Garth thing if you are going for more fun- plaid shirts, ball caps, jean-colored jazz pants and Queen tight tshirts.
Or find a bedazzler and just go hog-wild.
Good- luck, let me know which way you are going with it! |

I am wanting it to be more Rock-ish (think Queen) or else really modern, like maybe monochromatic with accessories? I am not ordering expensive costumes and was hoping to just come up with something semi-cheap! |

I really like the wayne and garth thing. Depending on what kind of choreo you are doing, I think it would be awesome for everyone to wear some ripped jeans. Have them wear a tight black T-shirt and have some of them wear a flannel tied around their waist. |

Maybe have a look at some pictures of the West End cast of We Will Rock You. The Bohemians are sort of gothic, unconventional. |

I love the idea of an over the top opening number with the older teens. You didn't mention how many there are or whether this is for recital only or also for competition. I always appreciate costumes that can be worn again. Tight fitting jazz pants that show beautiful leg lines would be great or even those new stretch pleather on a few kids if you have a large group. I loved the idea of adding lots of rhinestones or sequins to cute tops from Bodywrappers or even the cheapie teen stores in the mall. While I love real Austrian stones, a few creative teens or moms could do a lot of sparkley damage with bags of sequins, rocheille (sp) beads, and needles and thread. Or you could just glue them on for a one time recital. The clean line theme would also work well if the girls wore costumes with assymetrical skirts or butterfly type chiffon sleeves Sometimes it's pretty to stone or sequin the UNDERSIDE or inside of hems and sleeves so with movement you get a pretty, but unexpected flash. |

Thanks for the ideas! I checked out "We Will Rock You". I like the Bohemian look. I also like the idea of sort of glam rock look. I have about 15 dancers and it is for our recital! |
