This is my first year ordering some of my costumes from Costume Gallery. I notice that all of my kids fall between girth sizes! Why are there 2 or so inches that are not included in any girth size. Example: Small 39-42, Medium 45-48. If my student measures a 42.5 I don't feel comfortable placing them in the 45-48 category!
Can anyone clue me in?
Thanks! 4 Replies to Costume Gallery Sizing Help |

The best thing to remember when ordering costumes is "When in doubt, go up." You can always make a costume smaller, but you can't make it bigger (without going through the hassle of getting fabric from the company or trying to match it on your own).
Also, when I order mine, I add 2 inches to all the measurements to account for growth, so going by that rule, you'd be pretty close to the 45" girth measurement. |

I order from Costume Gallery every year. From my experience, definitely order the medium.
Which costume are you referring to? If it is a costume that we have used, I can let you know for sure what to do. |

We order from Costume Gallery every year. I would definitely go up a size. You can always take costumes in, but the companies never leave any room in the seams to let the costumes out if they get too small. Most children will grow at least an inch or two by the time the costumes are delivered. |

My rule of thumb: If it's borderline, go up a size. We measure in October/November, which leaves a 6-month time frame for growth. I require that the parent compare the child's measurements against the company's size charts and make the decision. |
