I know PJ is getting ready to retire and graduate soon. I think, I hope Megan McGeary will try out for the next Blue Sapphire she is beautiful and amazing.

Was she accepted at Penn State? I know several twirlers who are planning to try out.

PJ has another year. She does a great job, lets not rush her out. People don't usually graduate in 4 years anymore. I heard who the next person they are looking at may be, and it wasn't Megan McGeary.

I really never paid much attention to Penn State until PJ came along. She is a born entertainer. Even if you know nothing about baton twirling, you feel compelled to watch her because of her energy and that dazzling smile. I pity the next person who steps into that position because she (or he) will forever be compared to PJ.

Is it a requirement that you have to be a PA resident to be the Blue Sapphire? Just curious because the last two (Bobbie Jo and PJ) are both from PA, I don't know who the feature was before Bobbie Jo. There are also several other PA twirlers who might be in the running, too: Olivia Lynch, Merri-Frances Campbell, and Katy Galimbertie, in addition to Megan McGreary.

I can not speak of fact on this...but there have been a few features who were not from PA.

One from NH and one from CA I believe.

PJ just oozzes personality, even when she is not twirling a baton. I am glad to hear she will be twirling another year. I really look forward to seeing perform this year at AYOP!

I thought that I heard that this was PJ's senior year and that Megan was already a student at PSU. Both young ladies are very pretty and very talented and both make a great role model for young ladies. If it is a requirement to be from PA to be the feature, hurray for PSU!!! Too many State Universities overlook talent from their home state just to grab someone from out of state.

The feature twirler does not have to be from Pennsylvania. The requirement is that anyone trying out, whether for feature twirler or the majorette line, is that you have been accepted, and have committed to going to school there.

PJ is going to twirl again next season. She will also be at AYOP this year. I for one will hate to see her retire, but know that she has a great career ahead of her instructing young children how to twirl. She has tons of personality and always makes time to talk to the younger twirlers that idolize her.

Feature twirler position at Penn State is open to anyone who has an offer of admission to Penn State University. The feature twirler has to try out every year for her spot. The twirler can be from any state, but needs to have an offer of admission to the University or be a current student.

The feature twirler at PSU before Bobbie Jo was Christine Wolfe. She earned the position the entire time she was at Penn State (5 football seasons. I think she was the first to do that.) Other PSU twirling names - John Mitchel, Judy Larence, and Lori Uhazie.

At one time at least you had to have housing on the main campus.

First year students trying out for the line need to have an offer of admission to University Park.

Most young ladies from Pennsylvania dream of being the Blue Sapphire, its a shame a University the size of Penn State does not offer more than one feature position.

There are a lot of beautiful, talented twirlers that are Seniors this year - I am sure that Penn State will have some wonderful choices - but does anyone know for certain that PJ will be graduating? the college schedules are so demanding, she may be a 5th year senior??!!

I know that McGeary has had other offers from several other schools although I do agree that she would be a great asset to the program at PSU after PJ graduates. Where ever she goes, they'll be lucky to get her!

I always said PSU had their work cut out to find someone to fill Bobbie Jo's shoes, but they did. PJ is a wonderful Feature Twirler. I think McGeary would be a great Feature to fill that roll when PJ leaves.
However I agree with a previous post, PSU and from experience at my daughter's university...they always know who they want even before try outs...so I am sure PSU knows who is the next Blue Shapphire.

I've heard that it was going to be Olivia Lynch who graduates this year. Although I'm sure that Katy Galimberti thinks that it is going to be her, she graduate next year.
