 Teachers - Job Talk If you weren't a dance teacher...what would you be? en>fr fr>en By i_am_me Comments: 5929, member since Thu Sep 25, 2008On Sun Feb 15, 2009 12:04 PM
Anyone ever seen Inside the Actor's Studio, where James Lipton asks the actors what's another career that they would choose, if not an acting?
Do you have another interest that you would consider, if you weren't teaching dance?
I'd do something involving holistic healing and brain research. Possibly studying the marriage of metaphysics and science. Also love psychology and the study of what motivates certain human behaviors.

I know what I would do, in fact when injuries have stopped me from teaching and dancing in the past I've gone into costume making and designing, tutus and Irish Dance competition costumes.
There's a lot of work and detail goes into them, just like there is in training a dancer |

I am also a massage therapist, so if I had the time available from not teaching, I would continue and get my occupational therapists liscense or physical therapy. I am just too wow-ed by the body! I also love the brain and how insanely elaborate it is! That would be a very interesting field! |

Well besides dancing, I am going to school to be a nurse! I will be done in December! I hope to still be able to teach along with nursing! |

what I fun question to consider. I would definitely be a non-fictional writer and college English professor. |

Counsellor, Trainer, Writer, Editor, Book Reviewer... my other loves in life aside from dance are all people or book-related. My degree major is in Creative Writing
I'm a pretty holistic person though, so I wouldn't be suprised (if I wasn't teaching dance) that I'd go into Kinesology or something. Now there's something that sounds really interesting! |

I have done other jobs, such as writing, but I would love to be into building things, houses, carpenter, etc. I love doing things like that and am told that I am good at it. Of course, I would train better in it. My dream is to have an entire workshop and I love watching the shows on DIY and HGTV and my favorite store is the Home Depot!! LOL |

In addition to teaching dance, I am also an elementary school teacher. If I didn't do either of these things, I would go back to school for pediatric dentistry |

I attempted to double major in Dance and pre-med, didn't quite finish up my pre-med classes. I'd probably go into Sports Medicine or Physical Therapy and work with dancers.
Or I might satisfy the Right side of my brain and be a musician. I have three really neglected guitars sitting at home because I rarely have time to play them anymore.
I'm also a massage therapist as a few others are, but it's definitely not what I would want to do if I had options...it helped open some doors to other possibilities though. |

Oh, I would like to be an actress as well
Of course this is nothing like what I got my degrees in LOL!
Funny how life changes.
I use to want to be a lawyer - I like to do lots of things. |

rich! my first thought and response... I mean when I think of my work ethic and combining that with a field that pays decently how could I not be? lol
But on the serious side I would say working with the disabled and their families...not as an aide but in a way that would improve the quality of their lives. Or perhaps on the business end of dance...again in a supportive role...perhaps making things more available to teachers and helping them lead a complete life on what we make. Or in some job that would take me around the world so I could see and enjoy the many gifts this earth and history presents to us.
But still I would like to find a way to make money doing all of this! Ahhh...I suppose it's not in the cards for me. Back choreographing. |

I would go into Chiropractory...
I almost went into knesiology in University, but then changed into a dance major.
I wouldn't mind not working and just owning/investing into property. I guess I could say I'm just a big boss at heart. I'd be an entrepreneur |

I'd get a law degree, but then I'd like to go into the investigative journalism end of it rather than private law practice. |

I find it interesting though, that most people's responses are in the Education/Healthcare/Arts sector We all want to "achieve" something in our lives, most often by helping people either directly or through our work.
Nice, isn't it? |

Well besides being a dance teacher, I am also a fundraising coordinator for a cancer research foundation.
But I have considered going into law dealing with adolescent cases! |

I'm also a business analyst in the automotive industry and hopefully I'll be around for a while, but I have wanted to get into law enforcement since I was probably 18. I would love to be a detective(specifically special victims or homicide) or get into forensics.
I love seeing everyone's answers we definitely have a well rounded group of people! |

I have a certificate to teach 7 - 12 grade Social Studies. I love being my own boss though. My husband and I have planted a large orchard. We want to have a farm market. We also have a cottage/vacation rental and would like to expand on that because we live in a state park tourist area. |

I have always been interested in fitness and nutrition. I took my fitness theory in college. I was going to be a personal trainer. I'm also interested in the healing arts like Tai Chi and Yoga. For awhile I took up creative writing, short stories and poetry. Basically what interests me is education, the arts, health...just as glitterfairy said helping others attain something positive in their lives. |
