I am very much into the dance competition side of dancing. Can you make a living by working for a dance competition. I know the jobs vary as I expect would the salaries, has any one worked for a competition circuit that wouldn't mind disclosing pay info?

I run smaller end competition, so right now, in my 5th season we are running 5 events plus a weekend championship on the NJ Shore. Seeing as I am not a huge competition (yet!) most of my employees are college kids who make 100-150 per event, depending on their job. It varies... but I couldn't imagine what the HUGE companies pay!

I'm in a similar situation to danceteacher101 - I work on the side for a smaller competition in its 3rd or 4th year. Most of us are in our early 20s and I make about $150 a shift. There are only about 7 or 8 comps on the schedule a year (plus nationals) so I would imagine working for a bigger comp where you could potentially work every weekend from January - May would bring in more money. It's a good little job on the side though. |
