Next week, I'll have a list of possible songs for you all to vote on, so make sure you post any and all ideas; even if we don't end up using a particular song, we could definitely incorporate it into our warm-ups or a combination. Also, if you have any skills that you would like to focus on, please speak up. =]

Floor Warm-Up

Start in a butterfly position.
Look right, 4 counts.
Look left, 4 counts.
Look down, 4 counts.
Look up, 4 counts.
Tilt right, 4 counts.
Tilt left, 4 counts.
Circle right, 8 counts.
Circle left, 8 counts.

Roll both shoulders back, 4 times, 2 counts each.
Roll both shoulders forward, 4 times, 2 counts each.
Alternate rolling shoulders back (R,L) for 4 counts. Each shoulder should roll back twice.
Repeat, rolling shoulders forward.

Expand chest. Make sure you keep your shoulders over your hips, 4 counts.
Contract, pulling back from your belly-button, 4 counts.
Expand again, 4 counts.
Bend over, nose-to-toes, but keep your back flat, 8 counts.
Relax your back and go all the way down, 8 counts.
Come up.

Extend your legs into a pike. Push the back of your knees into the ground, and sit up completely straight.
Point your toes, 2 counts.
Flex, 2 counts.
Point, 2 counts.
Flex, 2 counts.
Point right foot, Flex left foot, 2 counts.
Alternate feet three more times.
Reach up, arms in 5th position, toes pointed, 4 counts.
And bend over, hold for 8 counts.
Come up, Flex your feet. 4 counts.
Bend over, pulling your heels off the floor if possible, 8 counts.

Open your legs to a straddle. Make sure you're sitting up into it, shoulders above hips.
Reach over your head to the right, 8 counts.
Rotate to the center, 8 counts.
Reach over your head to the left, 8 counts.
Go back to the right, nose-to-knee, 8 counts.
Rotate to the center, 8 counts.
Nose-to-knee on the left, 8 counts.
Pull up into your center split, then roll through to your stomach [A Pull-through]. Take as much time as you need to.

Hold Right, Left, and Center splits for 24 counts each. Make sure to alternate pushing your legs into the ground like we did in the splits practice last week.

Standing Warm-Up

Releve, 4 counts.

Plie, 8 counts.
Rise up onto forced-arch, 8 counts.
Straighten your legs (releve), 8 counts.

Stretch your arm over your head and to the right, 4 counts.
Rotate to a flat back, 4 counts.
Release down so your nose is to your right knee, hold 8 counts.
Rotate to the center, 8 counts.
Rotate to the left, 8 counts.
Come up to flat back, 4 counts.
Stretch your arm over your head and to the left, 4 counts.

(This is the same exercise that we did in the first class)

Raise R leg to passé, L foot flat on floor, hold for 7 counts.
On the 8th count, plie, and pull up to releve, R leg still in passé.
Hold for 7 counts.
On the 8th count, bring the leg down.
Repeat this exercise with the L leg.

Break for 6 counts.
On counts 7 and 8, Lift R leg up to passe, L foot flat on floor.
On counts 1 and 2, lift the heel slightly and rotate one quarter-turn so that you're facing R.
Hold for 3/4.
5/6, rotate to the back.
7/8, hold.
Repeat, turning to L and Front.
Repeat the entire 2-8-count exercise on the right again.
Then, repeat this entire section to the L.
You should make two complete turns on each leg.

Hold 8 counts.
Tendu R on (1).
Prepare for a turn (Fourth position, back heel firmly on ground) on (2).
Rise to passe/releve (R leg turned in) on (3). Do NOT turn.
Close on (4)--Remember to plie.
Repeat three more times on R.
Repeat four times on L.

Single Pirouettes (Remember to spot!):
Using the same counts as above (1/2/3/4), do a single on the right.
Hold (5/6/7/8)
Perform a single on the L, hold (5/6/7/8).
Repeat until you have done Four Pirouettes on each side.

Double Pirouettes:
Tendu (1)
Prepare (2)
Turn (3/4)
Land (5)
Hold (6/7/8)
^^Using these counts, do two double pirouettes on each side.

If you can do a triple, use the rest of the music to do so.
Counts would be:
Tendu (1)
Prepare (2)
Turn (3/4/5)
Land (6)
Hold (7/8)

Ballet-walk across the floor. Really work on presenting the leg before you step.

Across The Floor
No Music

Run across the floor, concentrating on the emotion of happiness. Your runs should be light and airy. Focus on the way that your head and arms affect the mood you evoke, in addition to your legs.

Run across four more times focusing on the emotions of sadness, anger, urgency and fatigue. Use your facial expressions, arm movements, plie, speed, torso contractions, and angles to evoke this emotion.

Walk out (expressively!) for the first 8 counts. You need to end up facing the back with your feet in parallel second, arms at your sides.
Step on your right foot to the back and slowly raise both arms, 4 counts.
Turn over your left shoulder, and slowly pull your arms down through your face. Tilt your head up. Take 4 counts for this. Your left leg should be pointed to the front from the turn.
Lunge onto your left leg, with your arms prepping for a turn, 2 counts.
Pull your right leg to your knee, single pirouette, 2 counts.

That's all for this week. We may bring back this combination next week and add on a little, but this is not our major dance.
