"In-house" competition prizes? Help! en>fr fr>en

So our big dress rehearsal for competition is this week and we decided to try something fun this year. We're going to do an "In-house" Competition between the dancers going. It isn't a DANCE competition persay but a PERFORMANCE competition. The judges are all people who do not know dance technique but know how to perform. The girls are going to be judged on how well they engage the audience etc. etc.

Anyways, we have 15 dances going to this competition and I really wanted to award the top 4 groups with a little something. I'm very broke at the moment but I wondered if any of you guys had any ideas? Thanks so much!

I try to encourage kids to better their technique with little competitions each year. I give out little awards like lip gloss, or a dance necklace I made from a dance charm (Michaels) and a ribbon. The girls loved them.

That would work for my younger students but this competition ranges girls from 8-18 soooo.... I'm not sure my seniors would want lipstick if they won! Haha! Thanks for the suggestion though!

What about dance stationary for the older ones? Or a small gift card? Does your studio sell dancewear? If so, What about talking to your studio owner about a gift certificate or coupon for dancewear? If not, maybe go to a local dancewear store and ask them if they'd like to sponsor it. If you agree to have fliers at the studio to promote the store, they may not have a problem with giving you some small coupons or gc's.

Over Christmas I found the Eye masks from my local drug store where the most popular gift for my older girls, I just did a bran tub and if they got anything else they wanted to put it back and dig again. These are the ones that you put in the fridge to re use. How about some thing like that ? Or a voucher for a fashion store ?

That might be a cool idea. I guess I'll have the comp and see which groups take 1st through 4th and then go get something small for them! Maybe even award them with watching a piece of a dance movie in class?

Ahh! I know what I'm doing now. The classes taht get the first four spots are going to have a popcorn party during their next class to review their critique DVDS. I think that would be fun for them and very inexpensive for me! Thanks!

That's what I was going to suggest... a party! Make them bring the munchies and drinks, you'll provide a movie or whatever. Maybe a lock-in? My teens LOVE lock-ins. You can have fun without spending money.
