I'm the squad leader of our winterguard this year, and our group has placed 2nd in every single competition. There's just one group that we have to beat, and according to the judges and the coaches, the only difference is our performance level.
My coach has asked me to work with the freshmen and a few of the sophomores on their facial expressions, since I'm usually good at performing. The only thing is that performing comes naturally to me, I don't have to work for it.
How can I help my group perform better? Our song is Feeling Good, by Michael Buble, so we need to be really sultry. 4 Replies to Perfoming Help |

I actually danced to that song last year! It's a good one!
Anyway, I don't try hard to perform and feel like it comes naturally to me but what I tell people is to get into the music more. Some people just really can't do it naturally so I think the best thing to do is to tell people to at least smile. Maybe try doing some acting exercises with them so they can open up a little more and feel comfortable with it. |

^That's exactly what I was going to say. Do you have drama at your school? If so, ask the drama teacher to suggest some theater games. Or better yet, see if you can get one of the drama students to come to your rehearsal to teach you some theater exercises. They'll really help, and they're also very fun. |

Thanks, I never actually thought about using theatre exercises. I think we even have some fall guard members in the theatre program who would probably be willing to help. Thanks again. |

our drama club does plays and stuff in the fall and they practice after school like us, and that's how i learned how to do facials and stuff, just simple theater stuff. that was a good suggestion. lol, i thought i was the only one who ever did that. |
