First off, I haven't been to the Dr yet and yes I know I should go....
I've had tenderness on the top of my right foot, over the metatarsuls (sp?). There is no visiable swelling but I feel it when wearing shoes. I'm guessing it is tendonitus. It's very uncomfortable to be barefoot or wear just ballet slippers. Tap is fine except for toe stands and Radamaques. I wear high heels at work all day with no problems however I'm sitting in front of the computer most of time. I don't recall anything specific happening, no one stomped on my foot and I didn't twist my ankle.
Any suggestions besides rest, ice and ibuprofen? Would aspercream or some sport ointment help? 7 Replies to tendonitus in my foot |

Get an orthotic insert for your shoes. Stop wearing high heels. Ice it and take an anti inflammatory such as Advil. The only way this will go away is if you stop irritating the tendon. |

Hopefully it's just irritation, but it could be a something serious. If possible you should get it checked out by a Doc asap. Then you can properly treat whatever issue it is. In the mean time RICE as much as possible. |

I've had a whole week off from dance for our spring break. I hoped my foot would feel better after the rest. So I think it's time to see my sports medecine dr.
I will continue with the RICE...which hasn't helped yet. |

Do you have a good supportive pair of sneakers? I was having major pain across the top of my foot and once I started primarily wearing sneakers with arch supports, it's gone away. Go to the doctor but invest in good shoes. |

Part of my problem is that my day job (you know the one that actually pays the bills) is in a very professional enviroment and sneakers just are not acceptable and most dressy flat shoes have no support what so ever. It's hard to find a happy medium between dressy and supportive. |

For pants outfits try plain, black, athletic shoes which can look like dress pants shoes/boots when nicely polished. For skirt or dress outfits, try Capezio (or other high-quality) character shoe flats. For all shoes add Dr. Scholl's inserts. |

I had this exact thing in college based on the pain you described. I went to a podiatrist and she gave me this wrap around, arch support. That, along with and anti-inflammatory got the job done. Every once in a while, it fires back up, but I still have those support bands. You could also wrap your foot, but again, see the doctor to best learn how. |
