There aren't really "funny" but kinda awkward. Im sure the kids were joking but...

Myself and another teacher work all day on a saturday and were just talking about how it's difficult because we are tired on a saturday night, and need to sleep on a friday night to be prepared for dance the next day. A little girl overhears (shes about 8) and goes "oh yeah, i like to have my parties on a saturday night so i can recover from the alchohol on a sunday!" myself and the other teacher just looked at each other, weirded out. The girl laughed and ran off...

Another time we were doing barre in jazz. A little girl stops and says "guess what? once my dad go She tried to continue, but i clapped my hands together and said "ok! enough story time let's get dancing!"

These kids are a bit strange...

I was teaching a junior ballet class a few weeks ago and was teaching some stretches on the floor and was telling them all to keep stretching and that they will all be much more flexible than me because i'm all old and stiff.

one of my 7 year olds turned to m, face so serious, and said oh no you're not old- you're young and beautiful! cracks me up!

I also pretend to my primary 2 class that I am in their class at school....they all start shouting 'you're too tall to be in my class or why don't I see you there' it's hilariously cute!

So tonight at the studio, it was sticker time after the one class of about 4-6 year olds. The one little girl had her hand over her crotch, so the other teacher asked, "Do you have to pee? Is that why you have your hand there?" She goes, "No!! [pause] It's itchy!!"

We are all rolling. The mother looked horrified, but it was hysterical!

After disciplining a 3 year old who usually doesn't get into any trouble for pushing another dancer I look over and big, fat crocodile tears running down her chin. I go over and say "What's wrong Suzie?" Her little lip trembles, "You broke my heart." *feels crushed by small adorable child* "Suzie, you know you can't push friends in my dance class but you know I love you and I want you and all our friends to be safe and have fun." Big tear drips to the floor, "I know, but it still broke my heart." I gave her a hug and told her, "I'm sorry it broke your heart but next time we're going to keep our hands to our self right?" She nodded and was fine a few minutes later.

I was totally being manipulated by a preschooler and we both knew it, but it was just so adorable. I broke her heart by gently telling her to apologize to the friend she pushed and to keep her hands to herself. If she keeps that up, someday she'll rule the world.

I was at the mall and ran into a 3 year old student and her mom. After a short conversation I walked away and the little girls said "Who was that?" Mom: "That was your ballet teacher!" "No Mom - this is NOT dance, it's a store!"

A week ago I was ill and took my FIRST and ONLY sick day all year, the SO taught the class with my usual assistant. Today during warm-ups on of my 6year-olds says to me, "I'm so happy you're not dead" I asked her why she thought i would be and she responded. "you had the WINE flu". Apparently someone watches the news a bit too much

One of my three year olds, as she was getting ready to leave asks "Is that where you live?" She was pointing to the studio office.
I said,"No, silly, I don't live here." My student asks, "Well, where do you live?" I reply, "I live in Tremont." So she asks, "Oh, which tree is yours?" Haha!

One of my 4 year olds came in to class on Wednesday. It was raining really hard out. She said "Miss D, you know what? You need a garage. So I don't have to get wet when it's raining to come in here"

That was a new one!

Little boy in my class: Are you a teenager or an adult?
Me: Well I'm 21, so I'm not a teenager anymore, I guess I am an adult!
Little boy: Really? Well you look like a teenager so I'm gonna tell everyone you are one. 'Cause my mom says it's always better to look young...

I laughed so hard...

I have a student who is 8 years old and just a joy to have in class. It is so obvious that she LOVES to be there. I have the pleasure of teaching both her ballet and tap classes. While most of the students take their grand old time changing shoes, she is ALWAYS the first one back in the door. (Honestly, I think it's that she wants to get back to dancing!)

One week, I asked her how she changes her shoes so fast, as I am always much slower (mainly, because I'm dealing with the hundred other things that we do!) She told me that either mom or dad is there to assist and that they are fast. I joked that I needed to bring my elf to assist me. Several weeks pasted and she would also ask if I brought my elf... obviously not, because she beat me again and again. I told her that the elf was naughty and refused to come to dance class and practice his dance steps. Last week, I got the following note printed from this student's computer (complete with clip art!)

TO: Miss "DaDancingPsych"'s ELF
Dear Miss "DaDancingPsych"'s elf,

You are so naughty. You DO NOT have to dance. Your job is to tie Miss "DaDancingPsych"'s shoes.

From,
"Student"

Too Funny!!!

I used to teach an after school class of 6 to 8 yr olds, and as I would wait for them to come from class I would drink a red bull, which I would throw out when we'd get inside.
One day halfway through the year we went into class and one of the kids said to me 'miss, how come you always drink beer in class?' I nearly died! what if they had told their parents that lol!? I explained it was just like a coffee soft drink :)

Oh it was hysterical today.

Over the weekend, we were at a competition. And our 6-7 group borrowed costumes for their one routine so they didn't have to buy a ton of new costumes. Well the one girl's pants were too big for her, but the mother apparently didn't try fixing them. So they were halfway down her butt while she was dancing and her butt crack was showing. Luckily, there was this mesh sash that tied around the waist, so unless you were up close, you didn't really see it. But we were talking about it today in class and she's like, "Oh yeah. I didn't know anything was wrong until I felt a breeze."

And then during the rest of the class she's saying, "caffeine makes you go to the bathroom!" and "number one comes out of the front and number two comes out the back."

We were rolling she was so funny tonight!

We had our petite recital in the end of May. So we try to keep them busy and I reading them stories. I read Hansel and Gretel and one little girl looked at me and said...

Them: "Why did they get lost in the woods?"
Me: "Well, I guess that they lost their way?"
A Little Girl: "Did they forget their cell phone?"
Another Little Girl: "Yeah, or were they in a no service zone?"

I had to laugh. Oh what a world it has become :) :)

I ran into a girl and her dad one night after her dance class at Walmart with my bf. Her birthday was coming up on Mothers Day and she knew the date of her birthday. So I asked her when she'll be turning 4, Her words- "May 10th- or at least that's what my mommy tells me". Her dad and my bf were dying laughing.

I get a whole stack of the "My little sister's birthday is on ___" / "My dad's going to get my mum an iPhone for her birthday!" etc etc's.

The cutest thing recently was in response to a "Left Foot Week" (starting everything on the left foot instead of right).

Student: "Miss glitterfairy, does that mean it'll be Right Foot Week next week?"

When I'm working in the office I can hear everything that goes on in the studio. My wife was teaching tap to a 6/7 YO class and told them to watch themselves in the mirrors. She said "You girls are lucky. When I was your age the dance studio I was in didn't have mirrors." One of the 7 YOs said, "That's right. They didn't have mirrors back in the olden days." I still bring that one up every now and then!
